If that's the case, at least be straight with them about that you lied to their faces and that they are not and were never really going to be a priority.

That way, they would at least know where they stand when someone shows up to ask them for a vote.

I hope the next democrat who is elected, whether it's 2020 or 2024, doesn't feel the nonsensical need to take the high road, to get this country back in order and on track and to civility, cuz that **** isn't happening. Instead, I hope they are petty and vindictive as hell, and mean tweet Trump all the time and accuse him of dumb **** and just basically do what Trump does, without the racism.

Illinois primaries offer ideological tests for both parties

Illinois voters are heading to the polls Tuesday for primary elections that could drastically change who represents the state — starting with the Republican governor and a Chicago-area Democratic congressman.

Gov. Bruce Rauner is fending off a challenge from Jeanne Ives, a state representative who argues that he has betrayed conservative voters. In the 3rd Congressional District, moderate Rep. Daniel Lipinski is facing the toughest challenge of his career from Marie Newman, an activist backed by liberal and pro-abortion rights groups — and by several of Lipinski’s House Democratic colleagues.

Democrats will also pick their candidates for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general, as well as their challengers in three House districts held by Republicans. And in several local races, insurgent candidates are looking to defeat incumbent Democrats backed by the party establishment.

The top primaries for governor and the House seat pit the more pragmatic candidates willing to compromise against those insisting on defiance and ideological purity. The races reflect the political fights playing out in Washington and in other contests around the country.

This city wants nothing to do with California's 'sanctuary state' laws. Will it start a new resistance?

Los Alamitos leaders on Monday approved an ordinance that exempts their Orange County municipality from Senate Bill 54, a law that took effect Jan. 1 and restricts local law enforcement's cooperation with federal immigration authorities. It marks a rare effort by a city to challenge the sanctuary movement, which has wide support among elected officials in left-leaning California.

Many cities have faced the ire of Trump and his administration for policies they say are too lenient toward those here illegally. The president slammed San Francisco over its sanctuary law, which he said had allowed a Mexican national who fatally shot a tourist to remain on the streets. And Oakland's mayor is now the subject of a federal investigation after she sent out an alert warning residents of an immigration sweep.
Los Alamitos, by contrast, is moving in a different direction, with some residents and officials saying they want nothing to do with those policies.

About 160 people showed up to Monday's regular City Council meeting, a monthly event that rarely draws enough people to fill the 40-seat chamber. Speakers lined up late into the evening to address elected officials, who eventually voted 4 to 1 to approve the ordinance.

"Sometimes things are bigger than we are," said Mayor Troy D. Edgar.

Cheers erupted inside the chamber after the vote, with some shouting "Patriots!" and "This is a win for America!" as others waved pro-Trump flags.

Illinois should be interesting, at the very least. It will be worth seeing if Ives manages to knock Rauner out of the picture before the general.

If the Dems take back Congress, the Dreamers will be a priority. The point is, that can't be done until he Democrats take back Congress. To do so, every political tactic availble has to be used, as long s it is legal.

Which isn't what they told them.

If that's how it was going to have to be? Not fine, but understandable. That they weren't up front about that reality is an issue.

Ah, well okay, when you said "asking them for their vote" I thought the convo was about lying to Dreamers specifically for their vote.

    Jeez.

Also, I feel like some of you guys are really buying into Trump's claims that it was the dems that failed DACA when it was Trump who ended that **** to begin with.

I don't think we'd be having this same conversation if Trump wasn't president.

Maybe people will be smart enough to abstain from voting in protest next time. Probably not. We are dumb as hell.

Latinos is the group that dreamers(largely) are a part of. That group just go a look at exactly how much a part of their group actually matters when you get right down to it.

Since Democrats should have just been straight with them to start with, they should go ahead and level with Dreamers now so that Latinos can at least know where they stand when it comes to Democrats.
