That's just what doesn't make sense to me for the people who were Bernie supporters who ended up voting for Trump. I mean, there's no reason a white supremacist can't like Sanders...but I don't know and holy shit how do I still get caught up in fucking around with the 2016 election like that shit matters any more.

Looking back at the election is like pretending we can figure out what went wrong with the country and try and fix it. We can't so why do I even entertain this bullshit.

Because Bernie supporters wanted to stick it to Hillary whom they felt had cheated their main man out of the Democratic nomination. They probably didn't give a shit that Trump would be an unmitigated disaster for the country, they just didn't want Clinton to win. Plain and simple.

Even if they tie collusion to his campaign team, that won't mean they can prove Trump knew anything about it. His base will be vindicated and nothing changes.

Doesn't matter what the Democratic Party does as long as a certain percentage of the population is highly susceptible to suggestions about how they should perceive a given situation. The Tea Party Left already doesn't like the next Democratic Presidential candidate. The just don't know who it is yet and haven't been spoon fed why not.

Pretty much this IMO. There are some people to whom being 'right' in their choice or ideologically pure is more important than everyone and everything else, and that is also why many Republicans who'd likely spit on Trump if he hadn't been running for Pres voted for him.

The same thing happened with the Republicans in 2012 with Romney beating a field of tea party candidates. You can’t spend 3 years giving lip service to a block of voters, blatantly ignore them in the primary and make it clear you don’t want them to get through, then expect them not to hold it against. McCain would have been President in 2008 if Dems tried to force Clinton in there. Typically the candidate with the hottest base wins. The run back to the middle strategy doesn’t work anymore.

Trump just got up there and gave them a show, a performance. Where are those jobs for the coal miners? The demand for coal is going to continue to go down. He gave all the tax cuts to the billionaires. How about those layoffs here in Indiana by Carrier?

Trump did make an attempt to institute a coal subsidy, and a board composed in part of his own appointees rejected the proposal.

Now, he may or may not have thought his proposal would pass when he made it, but give credit where it's due: he made an attempt, whether or not he gave a flying fetlock (not what I'd like to write) about the coal miners themselves. I don't want to see a coal subsidy, so I'm not the least disappointed that the measure failed. But come on already: why does the Left have to go to the ridiculous extreme of claiming that he lies about EVERYTHING? Why not just stick with his actual, documented lies, since they are many and plentiful?

You should know this: when liberals lie, an angel loses his wings.

I’ve always thought Trump was so useless as a strategist that, if there was anything nefarious going on, he’d probably be one of the last people directly involved and smarter people would have made sure to shield him from it so he could have plausible deniability. I'm becoming more and more convinced Trump isn't going anywhere until 2020 if he loses his reelection bid. Regardless of whatever evidence Robert Mueller digs up, it won't get past the Republican controlled Congress which is all too willing to burn the Constitution and break all ten Commandments to protect the Orange Menace. At this point, I can only hope Trump doesn't hopelessly wreck the economy or touch off World War III with China or North Korea until he finally leaves.
