Why is there a double standard with Democrats and Republicans when it comes to women and sexual assault?

If a Democrat is even hinted at doing this, they are tossed out and rightfully so, a Republican does it, and hey feel sorry for the perp?
Democrats don't make noise, and it continues...

Why is the playing field in politics and media so uneven?

A general lack of empathy in the conservative mind? To them empathy equals weakness. If someone is victimized they probably had it coming or were somehow complicit?

Watch the Last Word on MSNBC and we might find out just how much of it is and isn't speculation.

It's a Den of Thieves/Mob mentality. If one of them is doing it, then the others are either doing it as well or looking forward to the day they get the chance or are jealous of the ones who are doing it and getting away with it. Don't rat out each other, everyone is a crook and getting away with it is the ultimate reward.

And I learned today that he was under the wing of Joseph McCarthy today, so you know that Cohen was someone who had some connections previously with how to deal with jack@$$es.

No doubt, given their sway over things.

That was Roy Cohen, a different scumbag laywer who happened to be one of Trump's mentors.

And the guy they installed in the White House has never demonstrated any sense of empathy whatsoever.

Here I thought the people of West Virginia would like some actual change.

    https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...elections.html

Manchin for all the crap he does against the Democrats is getting the votes. BUT Paula Jean is putting up a helluva fight. Even if she loses tonight, The fact that so many people turned out AGAINST Manchin is gonna scare the dude.
He has the name recognition among the older Democrats and Paula Jean Doesn't, but next go around. They're gonna choose differently.

It also doesn't help that once they have show that there will be many instances where there will be members of the party who are willing to roll the dice on getting away with something, the other element of the equation aren't putting all of their political capital into creating enforcement mechanisms that can make it harder to get away with something.

Look at where things are now with sexual harassment and how it is dealt with in Congress.

How are you still in a position where those rules are there in the year 2018 factoring in what they know has happened?

There is no real reason for Republicans to be afraid of consequences. That should not be the case when they are not the entirety of the equation. If they are unwilling to rise to a basic degree of professionalism, whoever the other party is should be running year after year on putting rules and enforcement in place that will force that basic degree of professionalism.

    Yep.

While the numbers aren't in, it doesn't point to that people will just support whatever crap you put on a ballot to get "Our Team".

You can have better. It's time to start doing so.

I think partly it's because there's this long running narrative that the liberals run the media/press. If this sort of news comes out about a republican, the knee jerk response from some is that the media is "picking on" the republican. Those same people will just shrug if the subject is democrat cuz well it's the liberal eating their own so who cares...

I'ts West Virginia. There simply are parts of the USA where somebody like Manchin is considered extreme left, and anything to the left of him is simply not electable. It's a fact of life. This is the reality Democrats have to work with.

Welp, you're certainly not going to change it by running inherently unelectable candidates that are too far to the left.
