Again I will say this, the Democratic primary came down to a bunch of states that did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR US having a massive influence on who the candidate was and pulled the primary away from a candidate who did exceptionally well in the states we narrowly lost. Take that for what you will. For all the people who say "Sanders would have lost anyways", there are dozens of little things that impacted the election that didn't effect Sanders.

What is going on in that video is "Uncivil" taken to it's logical conclusion.

Did it seem like it was accomplishing something? To me, it looked like it just handed Proud Boys a "Win".

Taking these people on head on is likely a losing play. Work on the issues that will take them out of the equation? Probably far more sensible that any of what I've seen there.

This. However in this case, it really makes no difference. Anyone who thinks the story has a different impact whether it's a personal twitter account or the official one is kidding themselves. It's the exact same story.

Also we've compared a lot of people to Nazi's and Hitler in this thread. I would like to submit Kevin Durant and Demarcus Cousins for the Hitler and Stalin comparisons and would like to submit the Golden State Warriors for the Nazi comparisons. **** they ruined the league.

I am honestly sick to death of the Warriors bandwagon.

I'm just sad that any chance of anyone beating those guys is ruined. Like they were a 73 win team and being compared to the best team of all time BEFORE Durant. And now they got Cousins. This is stupid.

If you think about it, though, it really tells you what a beast James is that it takes /this/ team to keep him from landing more rings.

That said, this is bad for the NBA.

The sad thing is the one time James beat them it was pure luck of Curry getting injured and Draymond getting suspended. If those things don't happen they easily win that series. Once Durant got their every scenario was a longshot. Add Cousins and it's beyond dumb. This would be like if the 07 Patriots lost to the Giants (who they shouldn't have lost to) and decided they needed to sign Revis, Tony Gonzalez, Ray Lewis, Troy Polamulu the next year to make up for it.

Right. And it's basically 'Lebron James versus the Warriors'. There's no real rivalries beyond 'wherever King James is'.

Expect NBA regular season ratings to continue to decline steadily and finals to uptick, as has been the case recently if I recall right?

    *googles*

Looks like 2018 saw a nice resurgence in regular game ratings. That's interesting!

Civility doesn't work. It has not worked historically, those who call for it are generally those who were abominable to others but dislike their behavior directed at themselves, and I don't think anyone should bother being civil or polite to ANYONE in the Trump administration or Congress until something is done about the daily embarrassments, gaffes, head-smackers, and utter horrors coming out of DC. The DC elite clawed, spit and destroyed their opponents in dirty schemes and underhanded deals, all while screwing over everyone around themselves to get where they are. They don't get to whine about being inconvenienced or people being 'rude' when they are voting to rip families apart, when they take bribes...sorry, 'lobbies'...more seriously than their constituants, when they vote to strip healthcare and food from the poor and turn a blind eye to the crimes of their cronies and paymasters.

Damn straight. This reminds me of parents who tell their kids to "be kind" to the bully and he'll learn that kindness is the way. Well, it's kind of hard to be kind to someone who's punching you in the face, or putting your head in the toilet, or as in my own case, grabbing your book-bag and throwing it down the street. So maybe we'll start being civil when the Rush Limbaughs and Ann Coulters of the world start giving out real apologies for some of their ****.

IANAL but I have been told that a lot of the entire USA judicial system relies on precedent and not supporting precedent is a bit like not supporting the rule of law when it comes to American courtrooms.

And you're right, it is a word game, but the game is now that "supporting precedent" is usually what you say when you support abortion rights when you really do not want to use the word abortion, because you're a Republican for instance.

*sighs* There's a lot there that is more complex than what most people from the east or West coast get. Look, for example. You drive half an hour into Indiana from Chicago, past the norther part and go slightly south of Indianapolis, you're going to run into areas where it's very much red. Same with Wisconsin, and other states in this area. There's a huge difference in how people in Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado view things. North and South Dakota don't always agree on anything. Minnesota vs Mississippi is a very big cultural shift. That's not even to mention which states in the Midwest consider themselves West or Midwest.

When Duckworth was talking about going too far left, she was not pointing out senate or house primaries or races, because (sadly) for a good chunk of people they don't pay attention to that and don't come in to vote. What she's pointing out, and this is no joke, how different it is in the Midwest for a Presidential election. You could say sure her ideas will work, but the issue is selling it to people. A lot of the Midwest is still farm country save for the larger urban centers. It's both the boon and the bust for living out here. Chicago is progressive, very much so, but go to southern Illinois and you'll hear people saying that Chicago is too big for it's britches.

One of the big things that was said about Trump at the time, particularly in the Midwest, when he was running for the Primary, was that he was a New Yorker. As such, because there's a lot of people in the Midwest that feel that we're looked down upon because of where we're from (I can tell you stories of Opinion pieces that pretty much say that all Midwesteners are just guys that sit around on stoops widdling at wood because they can't be arsed to do anything else. Or that they're so uncultured that they think a clean trucker hat is considered formal wear) .

This is what Duckworth is talking about. The sense of entitlement that, not all but a number of, Easterners seem to have, namely New Yorkers. Now don't get me wrong there are a lot of really nice people in New York State. The issue becomes that Midwesterners hate the idea that someone from the East knows better about their world than they do. We're a prideful lot that don't like being looked down on. And what she's rightfully pointing out is a lot of bluster and such is going to just piss us off and throw a middle finger your way more than get us to listen to you. We tend to have a bullshit meter that goes off when people tend to think they know what's best for us.

You can be very progressive, but unless you can get the rational of how we tend to think and view things, such as someone from the west moaning about 61 degree weather in December while we're freezing our ass off in negative 14 below zero, don't try to play games with us. We will not appreciate BS for the most part.

As I said, each state has a different cultural view, and a lot of the time things move a bit slower here than other areas save the west West, minus California.

Trump Denies Request To Lower Flags To Honor Capital Gazette Shooting Victims

Mass shootings earlier this year caused the president to order that U.S. flags be flown at half-staff. Looks like Trump can't let go of his hatred of the media long enough to allow that simple but profound gesture. Sad.

"Proud Boys" should be the name of Ultimate X-Men villains. Like they could be a spin off an anti-mutant hate group.
