The orange alien form is that of a Durlan, Alien shapeshifters. The most famous of which are Chameleon Boy + Girl and RJ Brande of the Legion of Superheros

I'm finding that the best part is how it's different from the other CW shows.

Really like the upgrades to his costume. I’m glad they’ve simplified the color scheme and made it predominantly black and blue with only two yellow lightning bolts. Wish the tv show would do the same. But the Flash and Arrow’s suits have changed as the shows have gone on so maybe BL will get an upgrade.

Yeah, you missed out on the opening. This show was a tremendous first episode. You could tell they created this with love.

Well now that the episode has aired
I liked the tone the show took very reminiscent of Luke Cage but a bit more grit and dare I say perspective.
I think the most annoying characters on the show are the daughters but maybe that's just the pilot episode
Hate the opening theme they could have just did an instrumental beat or something but that rap is terrible, I guess anything with black lightning in it was the goal

Glad to see Jefferson getting his own show though with all his mythos at that. Still kinda hope for a crossover with Arrow/Flash eventually even if it doesn't exactly work

DC needs to hurry up and give this character an ongoing or put him on a team again. Its criminal he's been so underused compared to cyborg or Static

Black Lightning is officially my favorite DCCW show! It's so different from all the others! Honestly I hope they keep him separate for now. I wonder if they'll give us The Outsiders? Or Static? So much potential!

What is the living situation with the mother living separate from her girls anyway?

Is it because the special effects are expensive that he was doing a shitload of punching on the show and not using his powers?

Can someone list all the powers SEEN on the show,and what powers you think we will have on the show?

I felt like they put a good amount of his powers on display. The abilities I noticed were:

emp-like power dampening/draining
absorbing electricity and rerouting it
electric/taser punches
descending from a second floor likely using an electromagnetic force
electric blasts
somehow sending a pulse to shade his eyes in his goggles
electronic voice modification
using a current enough to paralyze/hold, elevate and then throw someone
the ability to "blackout" his suit just like in the current comic
