In some myths, he was born dark and imperfect with a foot deformity, and so his mother, Hera, threw him off of Olympus, rejecting him in infancy. In other myths, it was Zeus that was responsible for Hephaestus' broken form when he threw Hephaestus off of Olympus after Hephaestus attempted to protect his mother from either a violently enraged or an amorously impassioned Zeus. Hephaestus fell for days, suffering an irremediable injury upon crashing to Earth. And then there was Aphrodite, who cuckolded him on multiple occasions with various mortals and gods, including his brother. And in other myths still, there was that debacle on his honeymoon night with the goddess Athena, who wed him reluctantly and ultimately only because Zeus commanded her to do so. But she bailed on Hephaestus in true runaway bride fashion the very first night that they were to spend together.

As the god of blacksmiths and fire, Hephaestus made countless items of unprecedented beauty and utility for the gods. Yet no matter what he made or did, the gods never seemed to love him back in return. I sense a theme.

So if you're now observing that Phastos, the coequal of Hephaestus, who is now adaptationally Black and LGBTQ+, is not getting the same spotlight as some of the other characters ... well, all I can do is laugh, if true. Poor Hephaestus can't catch a break.
Hot DAMN and all kinds a YIKES!!!
Now that you mention it, yeah.
Life imitates art and vice versa

I would like to know what he'll contribute besides gadgets and emotional support.

I swear, its like the kid with all the cool toys who's like "look what I got. " But never let's you play.

In fairness to the Greco-Roman pantheon, the gods of pretty much every culture have a story of inexplicable violence and cruelty. Not even some of the more mainstream, contemporary faiths are exempt in that respect. Whether we created the gods, or He/She/It/They created us, that's a common strand.

That's true. It seems like Greco-roman deities weren't really a faith of setting up morals for people to follow

On the contrary, morality was very high up in the Greek faith. Right after the sky (Uranus) and Earth (Gaia) were created came the next generation of gods called the Titans. In that group was a goddess named Themis, whose bailiwick was divine law, order, justice, fairness and moral propriety among other things. When you consider that there are some myths/religions where the concept of justice doesn't enter into the equation until well after mankind had been created, it kind of speaks to how important moral structure and the idea of justice as an eternal virtue was to the Greeks.

That said, gods will be gods and good luck holding any of them to their own moral code. After all, they are the final authority and all too often might makes right.

I guess it's not so much ironic as it is depressingly befitting.

REPORT: Spider-Man Spinoff Silk Eyes Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Star for Lead
Sony and Amazon's Silk TV show has landed a showrunner, and producers Lord and Miller are eyeing a Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actor for the lead.

Sony Pictures Television has found a showrunner for their Silk series on Amazon, and the company has its eyes on a lead actor.
The Illuminerdi is reporting that Sony and Amazon's planned Spider-Man spinoff series focusing on Silk has brought Sang Kyu Kim on board as showrunner. Kim has produced and written for Altered Carbon, The Walking Dead and 24: Live Another Day. Kim is currently executive producing Jupiter's Legacy, Netflix's adaptation of the Mark Millar superhero comic of the same name. Along with Kim, Chris Miller and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse co-writer Phil Lord will produce.

For the lead role, Sony is staying true to the source material and seeking a Korean-American between 19 and 29 to play the young Cindy Moon. Hailing from Queens, the character is described as fond of the '80s and '90s and learns to vent her frustrations by fighting crime -- perhaps to a reckless degree. She will also reportedly struggle with her mixed heritage and dual identities. While a lead hasn't yet been found, the outlet claims Lord and Miller have met with Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actor Adeline Rudolph.

Last September, news broke that Sony was creating a suite of shows for Amazon Prime Video involving the Marvel characters they own the rights to. Silk was the only confirmed property, but all of the shows are said to be interconnected. That news also mentioned Lord and Miller's involvement, as well as producer Amy Pascal. Korean writer Lauren Moon (Atypical) was said to be writing the series. At one point, Sony was attempting to launch a Silk film, but there's no indication if this series will replace that project or serve as a jumping-off point for it.

Created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, Cindy Moon, AKA Silk, debut in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man #4. A high school classmate of Peter Parker, she was bitten by the same radioactive spider that granted Peter his spider abilities. While Peter went on to become Spider-Man, Cindy was locked away in a bunker by her former mentor, Ezekiel Sims. Eventually, she emerges, takes the name Silk and becomes a hero. She shares all of Peter's powers but can create her own webbing from her fingertips.

Along with Silk and the other potential Amazon shows, Sony is currently working on movies for Madame Web and Kraven the Hunter. A sequel to Spider-Verse and a number of spinoffs to the animated hit are also in the works. This year will see the debut of Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Morbius, all set within the growing Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters.

Sony's Spider-Man TV Series Spin-off SILK gets Watchmen Producer as Showrunner

Silk TV Series Adds Watchmen Producer as Showrunner
Amazon Prime Video's upcoming live-action Silk TV series adds Watchmen producer Tom Spezialy as series head.

A live-action series centered on Marvel superhero Silk was announced in 2020 to be available on Amazon Prime Video. Since that announcement, progress has been made.
It was recently reported by Deadline that the series has added Watchmen producer Tom Spezialy as showrunner. He will also serve as executive producer alongside Lauren Moon, who is also writing the series.

Created by Dan Slott and Humberto Ramos, Cindy Moon, AKA Silk, debut in 2014's The Amazing Spider-Man #4. The character possesses the same powers Spider-Man, but differs in that she is able to generate webbing from her fingers.

For the show, Sony will reportedly adhere closely to the source material. It is searching for a Korean-American between the ages of 19 and 29 to play the titular superhero, also known as Cindy Moon. She is described as being fond of the '80s and '90s and uses crime-fighting as a way to vent frustrations. Additional details suggest that the character will face struggles with her mixed heritage and dual identities.

Also attached to the upcoming series are Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who serve as producers with Amy Pascal.

Well, all know... the love of her existence will be a white guy. American movies and tv do not allow Asian women characters to have non-white people as their true love/primary love interest until recent on CWs Nancy Drew and Kung Fu series.

By the way, what "mixed heritage" is Cindy Moon?!?

Cindy had a Latino boyfriend in the comics and the only white character she had "feelings" for was Peter which they dropped very quickly due to the issues with the pheromones. Their are also recent movies and shows with pairing Asian women with Asian or non-white men.

Also, yeah, I'm not sure what mixed heritage Cindy has either.

The mixed heritage they could/have to be talking about is being korean and american.

Episode 3 reveals Loki's bi-sexual nature. This came across as not a big deal and part of a natural conversation.
