Wow, the Nu52 has some ugly costume redesigns. Supergirl's costume is hideous, what is up that red area around her crotch? We also get treated to the Flash's overly busy costume with yellow lighting everywhere, which is too bad because he always had a cool, sleek costume. It seems once the pointless yellow border was added to his chest symbol it became fashionable to just add more yellow lines where ever they fit. Are crappy, overly detailed costumes the pouches of the 2010s?

You can't have a list of the most awesome Supergirl covers and not have any of Michael Turner's work.

    Slight corrections:

#1 -- she didn't venture into the Amazon... she became an Amazon (like Wonder Woman.)

#2 -- hotpants were a very 70s fashion. :-) (Okay, okay, yes she was still wearing that costume in 1982, a decade after it was first featured!)

#5 -- this isn't your mistake, but... if that's meant to be the moon, what is making the flag and her cape move?

    #7 Now THAT'S 80s fashion..! :-)

Here's a few more classic ye olde covers from 1960--80s comics featuring Supergirl (plug: if you want to see all 430+, check out the Pre-Crisis Supergirl Chronology.) :

Decent list, but woefully lacking some of her best covers from Adventure Comics -- particularly the Oksner ones -- who was her main illustrator after Mike Sekowsky's run.

Brett White is missing some pretty great and important ones here. Firstly, to not have the first appearance of Supergirl anywhere is a crime, and one of the greatest comic covers of all time:

Then there's what is arguably the most imitated comic cover of all time:

My favorite Byrne-era SUPERMAN cover of all time:

And I'll post a few more...

This great return of Supergirl to ACTION COMICS:

This awesome Kerry Gammill cover to SUPERGIRL AND TEAM LUTHOR #1:

And pretty much any Michael Turner SUPERGIRL cover:
