I didn't think they wanted a hero. I assumed they were using the character who just showed up in the last few issues of the supergirl comic.

Manchester's little sister, she has bionic arms that can morph into guns and melee weapons. She first appeared the in the 100th issue of Justice League and was leader of a sort of black ops version of the team. It looked like she was going mad but it turned out to be her dead brother's spirit messing with her.
I guess Manchester is more well known I just can't stand the guy. But we probably won't get a carbon copy of it anyway.
I wonder, if they use Black, if we'll get the rest of the Elite as well? Or at least some variant on them.
Or Jenny Sparx from The Authority, basically who Joe Kelly based Manchester Black after when he created the line up for the Elite.

I thought it was that weird Supergirl cult trying to kill Ruby instead of someone trying to kill Alex.
Okay, the question has to be asked.
How is it that Kara recognized the Kryptonian ruins, but failed to recognize the Kryptonian architecture of the city itself? You'd think her reaction to seeing the city in front of her would be "Holy Cow! It's Krypton!"
EDIT: Speaking of holy cow- HOLY COW! Tuvok is a Kryptonian!
