I don't really think they are talking about an actual link to Superman II, just a "sort of a prequel to the Superman II mythos".

When I first heard them refer to a "General" I instantly thought Zod, but I should've known they wouldn't go for the obvious direction with that, and it's fitting that a major female-lead DC live-action show would have a female Big Bad
.
I wonder how this "prequel to the Superman II mythos" might play into how they use Zod or Faora in the future if they ever appear or are referenced?
