Default Dutch and Blood Squad Seven (for fans of 90's Image)

Joe Casey has been writing a miniseries around Dutch...the aging big guns 90's tough guy from Team Youngblood. Interesting enough...he's using the series to launch Blood Squad Seven...a book that's clearly playing with the 90's tropes established by Youngblood and the Extreme Universe.

I've heard very little discussion of either, but thus far Dutch is a lot of fun and the art is solid. It's a nice nod to old Extreme titles while also being cheeky and self aware. I'm really looking forward to how things are fleshed out further in Blood Squad Seven. Has anyone else been following Casey's setup?

A few links for those who are curious. Again...this seemed like a very quiet launch, but I am excited for where things go!

I can't really say I'm a fan of the 90's Extreme comics and I wasn't familiar with Dutch at all, but I decided to check out the first issue on the strength of Joe Casey's writing and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I'm now really looking forward to the ongoing team book that will follow.

Dutch's creator Chap Yeap owns the character.

Few years ago Fiffe did Bloodstrike Brutalists and Seeley is now also doing Local Man that heavily references 90s Image. I guess there is some re-evaluation of that era going on?

Ah, didn't know that. I thought Liefeld owned everything under his imprint.

    There's also last week's Hack/Slash one-shot.
