Question Sales Fugures of Uncanny X-Men 1986-1988

    Hi guys!

I'm looking into the sales data of Claremont-era Uncanny X-Men at the moment.

Each year, Marvel were required to publish the sales data of each ongoing series, and it was usually included in the letters page every 12 months or so. This would include things like the Print Run and the Paid Circulation

So, all is fine and dandy until I realise that there is no data for 1986 (supposed to be somewhere between #197-221), and 1988 (between 223-245).

I've checked all of the issues, and can't seem to find the info.

I may have missed it, and if you know I have, please tell me the issue.

If it wasn't published during these years for whatever reason, please tell me.

Or if you know where I can find the data, please tell me.

    Many Thanks!

I can't really help you out since I don't have any physical US issues but hopefully someone has some info.

BTW, are you going to or could you make any of the info you find/have found available to others who are interested? It would be neat to see some info about the sales of comics and how x-books fared back in the day. I've checked out comichron but they only have info going as far back as 1991. It's not the end of the world if I never know how comics sales were before the 90's if there is no info to be found but I would be partially curious to see some numbers if it is somehow possible.

    Awesome stuff.

Would giving me a heads-up on where you got those? I'm trying to search for figures on other 80's and early 90's books as well.

    Comichron's no help.

It's hard to describe, but, inn the issues listed on the far left, on the letters pages is a box, and in that box is a load of data to do with the sales figures of that ongoing.

Marvel were required to do this once a year for each ongoing, so I'd assume that they'd publish it all in the same month? Worth starting there, I guess.

As for early 90's stuff, I'm not so sure you'll find as much, as I think I read somewhere that the arrangement with the postage company changed, so that they didn't have to publish the data for new ongoings, only for ongoings that were continuing past that point. Does that make sense?
