Can someone explain to me what ever happened to charcoal?
I remember a competition for a new character and a fan created charcoal. He appeared a few times in the comic and then disappeared.
He and Jolt were both killed off. She returned. He didn't. Happens in issue 56.

I think it was because he was a fan-submitted character that they killed Charcoal off because his creator wanted royalties (or something to that effect).
Oh wow really? I didn't know that. The fan got greedy? That's not good.
just sub in that Inhuman Flint. no one will know the difference, at least visually.
Powers wise, Inferno's a better fit.

Thunderbolts #20 Nov 1998
Decisions, Part 1: Turning Point
It's full-throttle war with the Masters of Evil as the Thunderbolts attack their namesakes in a take-no-prisoners style!
And, in the aftermath, a mysterious cloaked figure appears who will change the T-Bolts' life forever!
Script by Kurt Busiek, pencils by Mark Bagley, inks by Jon Holdredge.
why hasn't Taskmaster been a t-bolt? he just skipped right ahead to Secret Avenger. i guess what i'm saying is that i want Taskmaster to be one of the Thunderbolts.
i was still a teen when that create-a-character thing went down and charcoal was introduced, so i wasn't exactly up to snuff on my creators/work-for-hire rights, but even back then i was taken aback how this wasn't all legally hammered out prior to charcoal's introduction.
Marvel Unlimited has finally given us a late Christmas gift. 20 more issues of Thunderbolts, completing the entire franchise. We may now rejoice, and read everything (minus certain eras that will go unmentioned) as we pray and pray for Nick Spencer to one day somehow relaunch the title with Zemo, Hawkeye, Boomerang, Falcon, and many more, essentially doing a sequel to all of his runs.
I don't blind date I make the direct market vibrate
