No, not really. HIV actually is caused by an infectious agent, not an environmental toxin. No, it's similar to thinking you'll catch cancer from shaking someone's hand.

A decent start. Certainly a lot of unanswered questions and curiosity where it is going to head. Happily on the hook for the moment.

It's also cute how they need help yet purposely exclude all their heavy hitters and instead recruit an untested, inexperienced and unskilled child because of her name.
Not entirely wrong, but it is interesting to think about it from Storm's point of view and foresight. Just as Jean doesn't think she wants to go back, Storm already knows whats going to happen when she hands her the orb. Shes a couple steps ahead.

As for the topic itself, her old best friend whom she knows inside and out, what she may be capable of, or what she may be able to bring. Thus what may seem strange on the outside, Storm (at least believes) that it will payoff in the long run. Likely a couple steps ahead again.

Not to mention - as you said - a "name". Notoriety can be useful in many ways.

Perfectly willing to do that. However, I'm being told by certain other posters that they are entirely, 100% certain of how it all works, when that's not the impression I'm getting from the comic itself.

So, any guesses on how mutants being sterilized is preventing baseline humans from having mutant kids?

Id say with almost certainty its probably something misunderstood. Following the Bendis theme of "everyone hates me but im actually good".

Either that or were just spinning wheels until a triumphant return of saving the day and some heroic redemption.

Id almost rather they tarnished him so id be surprised.

Last time, the explanation was "because it's magic" so...

No I meant its similar to the real world hysteria where people thought you could get hiv from shaking someones hand.

omg, you are right! The first time I read it, I soo totaly missed the flip chart board, behind Storm, with the list of heavy hitters she purposly discarded.

Or maybe Storm contacted as many available people as she could and the others are mia, sick from the T-Mist or dead? (Maybe Cyclops invited them to his pizzeria and blowed-up himself to stop hearing their complains. That's the horrible thing he did)

I completely agree with you. I wouldn't doubt if this all leads to another book featuring Cyclops down the line. He is a huge character in the x-universe and obviously has a ton of (upset) fans. I get it, I've been there with some of my favorites being sidelined or killed or poorly depicted. I'm not even saying fans shouldn't be upset or not be vocal with their grievances. I just think something larger is in play here, and even if not, writers and editorial continually change. Or, I could be 100% wrong and Cyclops is now dead forever or a villain or something.

Nice little start. Though, unlike some others I don't secretly want the book to fail....because my favorite character didn't make the team.

This book's discussion thread is already 70% less toxic an environment than any given discussion thread on this forum. It's nice to see.

Just one of those things you have to accept for the drama of the story. You could also ask why the mists didn't affect mutants before now, or why Storm, easily the world's most powerful wind elemental, can't contain the cloud, or why it took Cyclops' nearly a decade of leadership and months of psychological stress to realize that large civil gatherings in Washington DC make for powerful statements towards sociopolitical change.

If the T-Virus acts like the Lagecy Virus, making mutant powers go wild, I can see the potential of the fear from himans.

That's how by the numbers it felt.

Also, can we tone down Magik... Not only is she still teleporting around the world five times an issue but now she's electrifying entire armies with what exactly?
Tone her down? She's a Hell Lord and Sorcerer Supreme. A Thor or Strange level character

Beings like these fear her power.

    She's teleported outside existence itself

They've actually forgotten loads of stuff like her Eldritch armor and Psy shields that Emma, Xavier, Shadow king and Rachel couldn't breach. Her armor should block bullets.

They made her a novice magic user who needs Doc Strange when in the past he's stated there is nothing he could teach her and that she could manipulate the very fabric of time

She's learned all the spells of a Hell Lord

They actually have to increase the threat level of the beings they face instead of dumbing her down for a more street level feel.
