I voted for disappointed since I do feel that O5 Bobby being gay was fine since they could always say he's from a different timeline but adult Bobby has been around far too long considering how few signs of his being gay we've seen.

And no matter how much some people try to point to this or that as proof that he's always been gay the fact is that he hasn't always been written as gay and all of those comments might seem like hints when you look at them thinking that he's gay but if you look at them without any personal bias thinking that he could be anything from straight to bi to gay you see that there are many different ways to interpret them and none of them are really 100% proof of anything.

If they had made him bi that would have been less contradictory with his past. However unlike others I don't feel that him being gay has made his previous relationships with women invalid or anything.

But anyways, overall I'm kind of indifferent anyway since Bobby is far from being my favorite character.

Many, many years ago I really, really wanted 616!Bobby (but absolutely not 1016!Bobby) to come out as homosexual, but I had long given up on that (I guess coincidentally enough around the time I gave up on the Ultimate Universe for good?), so I was pleasantly surprised by the reveal itself, even if I was no longer actually emotionally invested in the possibility.

That said, for the sake of the fans of his heterosexual relationships, I would've actually voted for him to be bisexual. And it pisses me off severely that going by Bendis's dialogue, adult Bobby actually wasn't in denial at all but deliberately (ab)used several women as beards without their knowledge (and thus consent). Worse than your average Superdickery.

And because it's come up: Yes, Iceman most definitely is A-rank for the general TV/movie audience, which counts more for such things than his underachieving place in comics.

You want to be the kind of person who polices how other people are allowed to identify? Go ahead. Be that person who tells someone they can't call themselves gay because they slept with a member of the opposite sex. Be the person who tells a woman she's not a feminist because she took her husband's last name. Because fundamentally, there is no damn difference.

Is it possible that Bobby eventually learned to genuinely appreciate women, sexually-speaking, as an ACQUIRED taste?

Not really since thanks to the way Bendis wrote it, he's gay, he's known he's been gay all along for at the very least 14 years (let's say since he did go to college and grad school to become an accountant so he's got to be around 24 when X-Factor first started, so he's probably somewhere in Marvel time 28 to 29 years old since Kitty was 16 around that time and is now at least 21 to 22 (which makes his attempt to date her even weirder now). And when you look at the results, all of them ended in either disaster because he acted like an over possessive cockblocker (Lorna) or he put his girl through some rather terrible life situations (Opal), or they were just flat out crazy (Mystique).

Either way, still say they should have just made him bi. Not like there are a lot of bi male characters out there anyway and that way it actually would not have brought any of his relationships with women into question, because right now it makes him look like a beard seeking prick.

Its a mixed bag really.

Its a little tricky accepting this revelation -- despite an assortment of potential clues/hints/believability -- due to the over abundance of telepaths and alternate futures and its never been brought up previously. Unless Scott's been giving Bobby lessons in OMEGA LEVEL repression.

As far as exchanges go, it was entertaining enough, but I feel it should have had a lot more lead up to be convincing.
I look forward to seeing how Lemire handles Bobby in future Extraordinary issues.

Curious why does it come off as "Phobic" (which I'm not sure that's even the right word to use since it means "Fear". I don't think anyone's afraid of the situation when they voice their disappointment). Surely that's not a label used just because someone does not agree with a view point?

And it isn't a dumb hypothetical as such people do exist; for starters, there are probably way more self-proclaimed "vegetarians that eat meat" than "asexuals that have sex", both of which I can't take serious and roll my eyes at.
