LOVE IT! This reveal makes me so happy.
Very pleased. Mutant, gay and proud.
Pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed this revelation.
Just relieved Bendis didn’t have 05 Bobby and adult Bobby different sexualities
Indifferent; I genuinely don’t care if he’s gay or str8
I don’t know how I feel?
Disappointed. 05 Bobby as gay fine, but not adult Bobby
Very annoyed. Neither Bobby should be gay.
HATE IT! This retcon makes me so upset.
Being Honest I voted indifference because quite simply I don't care, Iceman is not one of my favorite ice wielding heroes (that acutally goes to Sub Zero from MK). I get that people wanted gay heroes but what annoys me is that there was a medium that gave them plenty of representation. Fanfiction stories written by fans for fans has more slash than het and I struggle to find a story with a particular pairing fro example Pepper/Tony because most have Tony with Bruce or Steve or Clint. Yet people turn and say we want more representation in main stream, you now have a gay/bi solo sooner than I thought, iceman is gay both of them and all the time that you argued with me and people still argue about the quality of the iceman outing story. That's before I even get into the Bi vs Gay bobby fight which btw I don't care either way.
Truth is the best policy
I fully intend to but once again I'm not a writer professional or otherwise and I have a career other than writing this is a hobby so honestly quality might be lacking, I would think a lot of writers start off writing fanfiction heck that's what E L James (I think that's right) started doing. I'm just saying representation main stream is going up and the non main stream (i.e fanfiction) isn't stalling either.

Is it possible that Bobby eventually learned to genuinely appreciate women, sexually-speaking, as an ACQUIRED taste?
I mean, a lot of US male pornstars eventually becomes bisexual-for-pay (it's been said that in the US porn industry, doing gay porn is the only way that the average male pornstar can make serious money) but still desires females, so maybe the other way around also works no?
Ex. Frank N. Furter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show
Its a mixed bag really.
Its a little tricky accepting this revelation -- despite an assortment of potential clues/hints/believability -- due to the over abundance of telepaths and alternate futures and its never been brought up previously. Unless Scott's been giving Bobby lessons in OMEGA LEVEL repression.
As far as exchanges go, it was entertaining enough, but I feel it should have had a lot more lead up to be convincing.
I look forward to seeing how Lemire handles Bobby in future Extraordinary issues.
I've no experience myself, but it's certainly possible for people who are mostly or entirely non-heterosexual to be attracted to people of the opposite gender they are emotionally close to. The degree to which these relationships could be lasting is variable, but would probably depend on everyone involved being able to talk openly about the situation.
Voting looks like a normal frequency distribution. Take that for what it's worth.
Completely utterly indifferent. It just fees like a marketing gimmick to appeal to a certain segment of the reader fanbase. with Marvel trying to show "were hip, trendy socially progressive we have gay characters in our comics". Even if it means retconning their backgrounds. Iceman inabilty to form a lasting relationship with female characters to me at least never came across as his being gay. So much as the writers portraying Bobby as mr unlucky when it came to relationships. I would have prefered a buildup in terms of story and character. Or at least bisexual. I don't know what it is at least in all forms of entertainment. It's like being bisexual is taboo. Even worse than being gay imo. How many bisexual characters appear in comics, movies tv shows. Either their straight or gay. One can't be both.
Instead it just feels forced. To me at least. I don't hate it. I just don't think it adds anything new or interesting to the character. I wont like him less for Marvel changing his sexuality. Neither will it make me want to read more stories either. Now if the character can actually form a long lasting relationship that would be interesting. If the writers still have him as Mr. Unlucky even with the change in the character sexuality. They should just kill him off. As no one is that unlucky or clueless when it comes to relationships.
Jean loves me this I know because the church says it so.
Havok and Emma were right.
Voted hate it for several reasons ranging from horribly written to just another radical change to a character that moves the X-Men further and further away from the stories that made me follow the books in the first place.
Porn performers wouldn't really be a good comparison, because they are being paid to perform sexually regardless of any sexual attraction they may have with the person/people they are cast with. They are acting and could be fantasizing about any number of things in order to be aroused.
That said, it's not unrealistic that Bobby could have also been fantasizing he was with a man when he was with women.
Or he could identify as being 100% gay and still enjoy sex with women without any fantasizing, the same way someone can identify as being vegetarian yet still eat bacon occasionally.
Voted Indifferent.
Preferences like this make no difference to me.
My only gripe was the conversation between Teen and Adult Bobby. I think Adult Bobby could have kept it more casual. "I was confused with just about everything back in those days. My only regret is being too afraid to try let alone talk about such certain things."
