On the Planet Oa, Hal Jordan pleads with the Guardians. They understand that Clark and Superman are the same man, but due to the circumstances and with no other suspects, the charges must be investigated. Until the true identity of the blood can be determined, Kal El MUST be brought to Oa.

On Earth, Superman's arraignment is on a dreary rainy morning. The courtroom is standing room only, with Lois Lane, Perry White, John Henry Irons, and Mayor Lionel Luthor among the attendees. Judge Stern explains that, although the charges are dire, no Earthly cell could hold the Man of Steel. Under the circumstances, the court will defer to the Guardians of Oa & their representative: Green Lantern Guy Gardner.

At the secret installation, Lex meets with his new partner to discuss the prototype armor. Although his partner was disappointed with it, Lex tells him that it operated perfectly and he knows just the right way to improve it...

Back in the courthouse, Gardner proclaims "Kal El of Krypton, you are hereby charged with NSB-187: the murder of a non-super being. You are to accompany me to Oa for trial." Superman, allowed his traditional uniform for court, tells him that's not acceptable. He tells Guy that he can't prove his innocence on this planet if he's taken to a distant one. Guy grins, recognizing the look in Superman's eye. He whispers to him "Don't do it." Superman replies "Everybody runs." Green Lantern quickly constructs a containment sphere around the Man of Steel to hold him until he can call for backup. Superman pounds against it, unable to free himself. The crowd becomes nervous, and Mayor Luthor's agents escort him out for his safety. Suddenly, Superman unleashes the full power of his heat vision, melting the sphere and scaring the attendees...all while being filmed on camera. Not sure what else to do, and looking very guilty to the people watching at home, he super speeds out of the courtroom & disappears.

He also knows since his birth he has been lost and manipulated by everyone who learned of his perpetual amnesia. He wants to visit his 2 "fathers" and CADMUS. He quickly realizes Clark Kent is not actually dead as reported and is Superman and that Lex is somehow behind the charade. He is just learning his full power-set and potential, but now there's Doomsday. Superman is not available, so it's up to him to save Metropolis from total destruction. A ferocious fight ensues right in front of the Daily Planet, but the entire city is in the epicenter. Superboy is not alone as Knockout, the Guardians and Dubbilex are by his side. However, they are no match for the beast and he tears through them all.
