SETTING: The planet Gehenna is dead, the surface below the sea of clouds marred and decayed from a terrible mutagenic plague. Only the five Ark-Cities remain, floating bastions of humanity that escaped the ruination below over six hundred years ago. These five cities: Avalon, Valhalla, Eden, Elysium, and Shangri-La represent the highest technological achievement of mankind, alongside their protection from the dying and mutated world.

However, mankind did not escape the plague unchanged. A small percentage of those that fled were mutated on a subtle level, and some four hundred years later, psychic powers manifested in a very small percentage of the population alongside better physical stats. These psychics, called Espers, were seen as a blessing and humanities protectors. They became regarded as special and were treated as instant celebrities almost overnight.


Now, two hundred years later, the small percentage (less than 0.1 of the population of five million) are still treated like nobles and celebrities, to the point of even being given their own schools to train in and learn at how to be the five cities guardians.


And that is where you come in. You have just been accepted to Hades Academy where you will be educated and trained to harness your powers and your psychical capabilities to further help and protect the five cities. Of course, you will also discover that perhaps Hades, and the five cities, are not quite the Paradises and noble encampments that the history books say they are.

PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES:

All stats cap at 20. You will all start with SEVEN points to spread across your five categories. A 0 in each stat represents a normal/average human being. A 20 in Strength would be a Class ten. A four in agility is low level bullet timing (Ozamandius level) or roughly very high Aim dodger (Lady Shiva). An 8 would be Cassandra Cain level bullet timing, and a twelve would be Kenshin Himura level (actually leaving Sonic Booms and the like through full movement speed). A 20 would be Mach 2-3. Durability scales up the same as strength. Stamina is the level at which you heal from tiredness or injury. A ten in Stamina is Wolverine. A twenty is Deadpool level. Skill indicates your psychic skill level. The higher this skill level is, the better your psychic power and the more you can do with it. There are five psychic levels, and each time you reach a plateau (every four points) you earn another subset of your base psychic power (which you start with).

Gehenna is a ringed planet with two moons that orbit it, one larger further away and a smaller one closer to the planet.

The five cities are all interconnected, with the four others circling Avalon, which sits in the center and is the largest. Each city is connected via tubed highways, and each one is responsible for various resources for all five. The five are ruled by a Council of ten, two from each city, and below them is a "senate" of 50, ten from each. Alongside them is the Judicial Tribunal, which is made up of the Executioner Prime, the High Judge, and the Defender of Lives.

Eden: This city is mainly farming and livestock growth. It has the smallest population (200,000, but almost all the food for the five cities is grown here, alongside livestock creation/birth and maintenance).

Shangri-La: The city with the second smallest population (250,000), it is mostly concerned with the Reclamation Forces and their continued efforts to study the scarred surface. It is from this city that their main headquarters is located, and from which they launch weekly trips to gather water to be recycled from the oceans below, and where special trips once a year are made to the surface to study artifacts and the like. Fairly tough to get into organization.

Elysium: Next in line, this city (with a population of 550,000) is all tech based. From here the main tech breakthroughs in medicine and other technologies are born, and thus most, if not all, labs and the like or stationed here. They are responsible for the creations of pretty much all technologies used in the Ark-Cities, save the Gravity engines and barriers that surround each city.

Valhalla: The next largest population (1,750,000), Valhalla is the judicial and financial center for the Ark-Cities. All courts, prisons, main banks, and brokers work here. This is also the city where the main religious house is located, called the Temple of the Stars (the Ark-Cities participate in basic ancestor honoring/worship, and believe that in the end their spirits go forth into the stars to watch over those still alive).

Avalon: With the largest population (2,250,000), this is where the richer populations live and work, and is the center of entertainment, education, and culture for the Ark-Cities. It is in this city where the various psychic Academies are, with Hades being one of them, and the main police headquarters. The gravity engines that keep all the five up are located here, as are the sources of power that generate the protective energy field that surrounds the cities to keep out the wind and chill.

HISTORY: Ah Avalaon. A city of wealth and prosperity. Growing up there, Rosalinda had a very good life of luxury because her father worked on improving the gravity engines that kept Avalon running and her mother was an Esper herself, with the ability transport herself and others across large distances via folding space. As a child, Rose was always fascinated by the stories about the 'Old World' The Way the world used to be, back when people still lived on the surface and she would spend hours reading about it and watching holovideo documentaries about the old world. Rose has often dreamed about returning to the old world, even if it's just to see a glimpse of the surface world. How ironic then, that a girl who wants to see the surface world then, should develop gravity related superpowers. When her power did wake up, Rose found herself levitating several feet above the ground before seh fell back onto her bed. She ran to go find her parents and she frantically explained what she just did and as she did, Rose started to levitate again and bumped her head on the ceiling. Rose's father caught her as she fell back down. She initially believed it to be telekinesis, but after some testing was done by the experts, it was discovered that she had power of Gryokinesis, that is, the power to manipulate and control gravity.
Word spread like wildfire that she had Esper Powers and became a celebrity overnight and received a scholarship to Hades Academy.

Not quite that. Say if it takes Logan an hour to heal his burned off arm, it takes Wade ten minutes. Head shots are dangerously fatal, however. If more than half the head is gone, no amount of healing fixes that.

Does Rosalinda's gravitokinesis affect the flow of time, or is essentially sustained, wide area telekinesis?

Sorry, but I'm not able to tell much about her personality from the bio. A go-getter perhaps?

Any comments or suggestions for Edmund? I decided to keep him pretty simple since it's the first time I'm participating in an RPG like this.

One important thing is that you play a character you really want to play. I've fallen into the 'normal' trap before, and found myself lacking inspiration. People may happen to fit into 'normal' categories, but it's a poor descriptor. Characters are interesting because of what they are, not what they are not. What is it about Edmund that you find compelling? What makes him feel like Edmund, and not a generic person?

Say, Cleric, would some kind of combat precog (think a much, much weaker version of Midnighter's) be fine for this? If yes, what would be the limits? Otherwise, I do have more ideas :-).

APPEARANCE: A blond-haired, blue-eyed teenager, is quite muscular due to the intensive training he put himself through since childhood, before going to the Academy. Has an air of nobility to him, and not the good kind.

CITY OF BIRTH: Avalon

ESPER POWER: Danger sense, allows him to feel when he is about to be attacked

SPECIAL SKILLS: Combatives, and extensive knowledge about financials, investments... (hey, you can never be too wealthy)

HISTORY: Francis is a kid who has always had everything. The best education, the best martial arts teachers, you name it, he had it. His parents being Espers probably helped. The only thing he didn't have, until late in his 13th year, was Esper powers, which he felt he was entitled to due to his ancestry (someone didn't listen to the biology teacher when he explained that the odds were still weak even with Esper parents). And now that he has them, he feels even more than before that he is "God's gift to mankind" and that he will become "the most powerful Esper EVAH!" (think a mix of early Damian Wayne, Draco Malfoy, and TFS Vegeta).

Oh, and why is the kiddo going to Hades Academy, instead of the best academies Avalon has to offer? Well, his parents finally got a hint that spoiling the brat MAAAYYBEEE wasn't a good idea, so they sent him to that disgraced academy so that he'd learn some humility. Hopefully. Francis' words on the matter? Here they are: "At the end of the year, I am at the top of the class. At the end of my cursus there, I am going to be stronger than headmaster Nine."

TFS Vegeta. This guy is going to be simultaneously awesome and frustrating, and somehow even more insufferable, haha. It's an interesting point that people having esper powers and being elevated by virtue of something they developed by chance would have social consequences. Pride can be a good thing, but in excess no amount of guts will be enough to back it up. I look forward to seeing how far he'll go. Does he have pride in himself specifically over other espers? How much pride does he have in his family, and is that pride rooted in esper power or is there anything else supporting it?

I imagine it would be kinda like this.

At her higher levels, she might be able to mess with time if paired up with a Chronokinetic. It's up to Cleric.

Basically, Francis comes from a family with what would be considered a good amount of Espers, and is pretty wealthy, so he basically is expected to do great things, whether or not he became an Esper (though he definitely hoped he would become one due to the status and all), and has been told so repeatedly since childhood. Some would react not well to the pressure, and some would think they are hot sh*t. I'll let you guess which one Francis is ^^.
