Depicting something isn’t the same as glorifying it.
I'm almost positive the reason Dexter is good has nothing to do with any of the popular reasons people usually give for liking it.
Too funny. I think it's good, but it is probably overhyped.
You would have thought, as much of a genius as Dr. Doom was, he would have worked on some sort of artificial skin to fix his face. Might not have needed all those Doombots and death rays.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
Maybe a reminder of why he needs to eventually crush Richards?
Tom King is an amazing writer.
He's like Brad Meltzer in that he comes from the "heroes have feet of clay" school of writing, which for me works more often than not. Identity Crisis is fantastic except for the Jean twist. And one could say that one thing (like Strange Adventures) taints everything else, but I choose to focus on the plethora of good writing elsewhere in the same package. Slade taking out Flash, sure, it's iffy. But if Batman can **** up supers so can Deathstroke. It's not a deal breaker.
Back to King:
Sheriff of Babylon- great!
Vision- great!
Omega Men- great!
Mister Miracle- great!
Superman Up in the Sky- classic!
90% of Batman- great! (the marriage swerve is nonsense)
95% of Strange Adventures- great! (Only thing I didn't like was that Adam had zero redemption)
Supergirl- great!
Heroes in Crisis- ... alright that one's crap!
