    Change my mind.
A lonely predator went to Earth and got lost in South America.

Met a few army guys and took them all out.
Army guys's friends came with Jesse The Body and Conan.
Lets just say it didn't end well for everybody.

Once he blew himself up, his spirit entered the body of the helicopter pilot who saw the explosion.
The pilot retired from the military and moved into an apartment complex called 227.

Where he met someone named Rose and married her. He then got a job being Bigfoot for a sitcom.
    Before his death in 1991.

Kevin Peter Hall was the predator and the helicopter pilot in the movie.
He did marry Alaina Reed Hall (Rose) of 227.
He also played Harry in Harry & The Henderson sitcom (and movie)

So you could say the Predator found love on Earth.

August 1st was emancipation day for the British Commonwealth. In 1833, on August 1st a law was passed that ended slavery in the British Empire, although it came into effect the next August 1st in 1834--and it took more time for some adults to be free from their masters. In parts of Canada this was already law (in 1793), but the British law ended slavery in all of British North America.

Now think of this--if the 13 colonies had not obtained independence from the Crown in the American Revolution, then slavery would have ended in those British colonies three decades earlier. So the Declaration of Independence prolonged slavery and prevented the independence of those human beings.

... or there would have been a war 60-something years later with the UK and, if the latter had lost, prolonged it in the South that much longer.

Perhaps, but far from certain. Oh, there might have been a war, but the British wouldn't have been in the same place vs. France, and could have afforded to more vigorous campaign on the North American continent. Further, using the issue of slavery as a wedge, the British might well have commanded a larger percentage of North American loyalty.

None of these ruminations are for certain. Maybe the North and South would have had separate countries, but still fought together and beat the British with French help. In that case, who knows when the South would finally have ended slavery. The problem with these "what ifs" is if you remove or add something to the equation, something else may be altered in the process. At ant rate, it's a fun exercise.

On a semi-related note, if the North and South had separated peaceably, they still would have gone to war within a generation over the West.

That, and Barry being unable to learn common sense. And the writers being unable to find an arc villain other than the Next Evil Speedster.

Me: Well, I don't have to check into work until after 1pm tomorrow. I can afford to have a couple of beers tonite. I'll walk to the liquor store! Hmm...there's an usually high amount of police officers walking about...and is that a city bus full of cops parked in the bank parking lot?

Rando Talking to Other Randos: ...Yeah, it's all over Facebook!

Me: Oh. The looting from a couple of nights ago. Gawd, I hate this year.

    And looting is not reparations....

They've improved on that. The Thinker for season 4, the Cicada's in season 5 and Blackhole for season 6.
