Ok so I finally sat down and watched the The Dark Knight Returns with the much acclaimed performance by Heath Ledger and I found it boooring. I also found it way overrated. Ledger was good in it dont get me wrong but it didnt live up to the hype. I found the film uninspiring and I couldnt wait for it to end frankly. I usually like Christian Bale but I could not have imagined a more boring Batman. In fact everyone in the film was boring. This film just screamed boring, lol, get the drift?

I guess I dont think Christopher Nolan is a genius because I thought Inception was overrated too. Oh it had some awesome visuals but thats another film I found boring and overrated. This guy hasnt impressed me. IMDB posters could kill me for saying this they are as bad as the Godfather fans. Watch Mojo raves about the man but I dont see it. Director of boooring. Yawn. And I've been accused of liking boring movies.

I'm a woman and I dont get why she is still so popular. I think her ship has sailed frankly. She used to have interesting shows in the beginning but then it became so quaint and boring. I hate Dr. Phil. He supposedly isnt even a real doctor.

Dr Phil was trained as a psychologist. He practiced for a while and decided he didn't like it so he became a legal consultant. That's how he met Oprah. He helped her prepare when people in the beef industry brought a suit against her. When his show took off he didn't bother to renew his license, so is a way he isn't that kind of dr any more. I assume he's still got a PhD so I guess in that sense he can get away with calling himself a "dr."

Are you quoting lyrics from a Dennis Leary song?

I hate frosting on cake, like, the buttercream frosting that is thick and stiff (ahem).
I scrape either all of it off, or most of it.

If you go into a direct to DVD animated movie expecting Heath Ledger I'd imagined you be shocked.

    Anyway:

Deadpool is a totally overrated movie. It's fun but if you're old enough to see it you're too old to really like it. And it's a very safe and unedgy movie. Deadpool is a mercenary that goes after bad people for free (because that's what mercenary's do???) and the most unsafe joke is about pegging. I enjoyed it but it's way more childish than any of the MCU films yet is getting awards just because it makes fun of other superhero movies.

Star Wars is totally overrated as a franchise and has basically no interesting concepts in it at all except "what if a sword was also a laser?".

They should make a big budget superhero musical at some point.

Almost all of the American left seem fine with war crimes and imperialism so long as their candidate supports abortion rights or whatever. Bernie Sanders represents a slight change from this but he only got 40% of the vote in the primary. How big were the protests against Obama's arming of Israel or drone strikes (both of which were worse than Bush's)? WHy did most Democrats vote for a woman in the primary who admired Kissinger, one of the greatest war criminals alive?

Steven Moffat's Doctor Who is better than RTD's.

Generations are not a "thing" and if they were I'd say the oldest generations are by far the worst.

The attacks against superhero movies today are the same attacks for blockbusters in the 80s and 90s. Big blockbusters have never been high art people.

Brexit may end being a disaster but many of the reasons for leaving were completely legitimate. The EU is not some lefty organisation and it's completely unaccountable to ordinary people. You can say "reform it from within" but that's proven to be almost impossible over the years.

The Oscars are a total waste of time.

I see. Different strokes and all, but I gotta say, you're one of the very few people wh odon't like cakes (and that's OK, just saying it's not a common thing). I, OTOH, love a good cake.

Glas we're on the same page here. And to think it all started with Aerosmith and Anthrax...

Seriously, if you weren't 16 or 17 years old the first time you heard Deftones, Korn or (easily the worst offenders) Limp Bizkit then this was the most depressing, self obsessed, detuned musical bollocks imaginable. There's never been an offshoot of rock or metal that was so enthusiastically embraced by a teenaged audience and yet so despised by anyone who's balls had dropped.
Ha! Absolutely right. Although I can actually listen to a Deftones album and even enjoy a few songs. Mainly because their music isn't that much "in your face" nu-metal.

I can't stand either of the 'Load' albums though. Metallica were also heading down the 'I hate my parents, in fact I hate society in general and it's everyone else's fault' route. One that they 'perfected' on the 'St. Anger' album. Insincere, manufactured ire set to music that sounds like it was recorded in a biscuit tin.
Agreed on the ire. I understand that James was going through some stuff, but damn. Also, yeah, the production on St. Anger left a lot to be desired. And the songwriting too. Songs were repetitive, and lacked that "spark"/great songwriting. At least the previous too albums had guitar solos.

I really haven't seen it. Actually, I think the last musical I watched was "Chicago", and it was a complete borefest. I fail to understand what the fascination with musical movies is.

Other than to watch Catherine Zeta Jones with a short bob cut and sweating on stage in a black little dress? No reason at all.

    EXACTLY.

Another "controversial" opinion: Captain America: Civil War is EXTREMELY overrated. I found it to be an OK movie. Cool moments? Sure, but when you see the whole product it is just OK. Really not a big deal.
