I think Oatmeal is a type of Porridge. Kind of like all squares are rectangles but not all rectangles are squares.

On steak: I agree a good steak doesn't need sauce, you can still use sauce but it's optional. A badly cooked steak makes sauce a requirement.

Like I said in the "Ice and Whiskey" thread, to each his own. I don't understand how any one can eat a stake well done but they pay for it so it's their choice. I don't remember the last time I've had steak sauce and to my taste ketchup is a cardinal sin, but if you what it you get it. Basically my thinking is, you pay for it you get it how you want it.

No, I didn't come up with that, saw it on the internets.

I mainly cook for myself, and considering how bland I find anything I eat from restaurants I like to add flavor from the beginning. I can't make some things, but anything I can cook is leagues above what I can buy.

Ketchup has it's uses, it's just a pet peeve for me about foods not being flavorful in and of themselves. I know some people want 'the flavor of the BLANK' to shine through when they eat, but I've found that it still does while being accentuated by whatever herbs and spices you've allowed to permeate the meat.

How do you live in Texas and you can't find good steak at a restaurant?

Unless you want to pay $35 plus for an 8 oz steak your not gonna find a decent steak even in Texas. I really is better to buy your own choice cut and do it yourself and cheaper too.

Pretty much that, I cook em better so I don't go looking for good steak. Every time I've had one out it's too rare or too done, and very little flavor outside of any sauce or grilled onions/whatever they want to put on it.

Now a good Chinese buffet, quality fried chicken, and exceptional french fries - those are things I look for.

Half the joy and steak is grilling at yourself

Cooking for yourself and cleaning up afterwords can be classified as work, but making delicious meals that you can enjoy again and again is something worth more than money.

Now you have large sections of articles, and examples cut because someone felt like their toes was stepped on. Sure some of the cutting made since because of editing wars. But gradually it just became about people getting rid of things they just don't like. Mixed in with editors who just don't want to be bothered I guess. For example, the article that analyzes the 2010 decade has been basically butchered and dumb down. Getting rid of most of the specific sociopolitical current events examples that were mentioned. That's just one example, others are We ARE Struggling Together, Flame Wars, Broken Base (which was infuriating, cause I created that entry. They redefined MY article just so they could start cutting examples they didn't like). There's more but I'm keeping it brief.
I guess that happened around the time when they started culling certain YMMV Tropes, or removing examples, or began their "No Real Life Examples" thing.

I still like that place, but I know now that it's pretty flawed. I've become rather intolerant to how YMMV pages for many new series and stuff over the last half-decade have become little more than a laundry list of stuff people don't like. As someone who loved Ultimate Spider-Man from the beginning, and who actually missed much of what was lost in the direction change that started in Season 3, that area sucked. Likewise, Varian is way too sympathized on the Tangled series pages, and Cass never catches a break. And I'm sure I'd have a nice side income if I got payed every time someone whined about a new take on something "Sucking because they 'changed' it", long before it aired. Forget giving it the chance to be its own thing, no. Basically, only the darlings of the people who frequent the site get any recognition, and then they suffer from show-gatekeeping (the Varian thing being one good example).

Then there's all the cool stuff that doesn't get any love over there (not hate, but no love either). I guess I could do it myself, but don't have the free time for that like I once did. Nor much in the way of inclination.

I think a guest showing up in a marine uniform at a civilian wedding is hardly political but it does sound controversial.

The bride has the right to be upset but kicking a guest off the wedding seems rude. Did she advise the guests about formal wear before the wedding?

Personally I would not mind if a guest showed up in a uniform with medals at my wedding.

The marine was wearing some medals including a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, one of the lowest ranking military medals. So that is the highest honor he was able to achieve. Some of the other medals are Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. I couldn't recognize the rest of the medals.

Seems like an ego thing? She got mad and felt that he was upstaging her which is kind of petty, but I don't think it was an anti-military thing.

An anonymous bride on Reddit posts a comment to ask if she was an a-hole. Uh, I don't know if I believe this happened. Doesn't quite pass the smell test.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

As a former Marine my thoughts are this, it's perfectly fine to wear your dress blues to a civilian wedding. However, all the medals may have been a touch too much. I'd wear my most precious one & leave it at that.

The bride will forever be known as "the bride that threw out a US Marine out of her wedding because she hates Marines" . Regardless of whatever she protests, that's what is going to stick. Whenever, anyone mentions her wedding, that fact is what people are going to remember.

Good luck to the groom. I give it 2 years, tops.

It's 100% a ego quirk. But she self-owned by getting super-jealous at her own wedding.
