I had a computer programming course during summer school when I was in high school where we used BASIC 2. I seem to recall "If / Then" being involved in that.

Indeed I am. Of course the term "form of" has a wide definition.

I'm ambivalent about political cartoons because a lot of them use the ugly=bad trope.

My opinion is that simply following a tree of IF...THEN...ELSE statements, no matter how sophisticated, is not intelligence at all. The computer that works that way never learns anything, and I consider learning to be a core feature of intelligence. (Again, this is just my concept of what intelligence is.) An intelligent system would keep track of its performance, and it would use that experience to "realize" that one or more branches of the IF...THEN...ELSE tree is prone to error. It would then modify the tree by substituting its own rule based on its experience.

So true. But very basic if then else statements often hold counters which intake information and changes the decision making on that. Granted this is children piling blocks on and calling it building as opposed to the creation of hundred story towers, but it is the beginnings of AI. Your definition of AI wouldn't accept if then as a step, however, if then else might qualify. It's clear I have a far more open definition of AI than you do. I am inclined to give more credence to the ability to learn portion of your definition, but If Then Else represents the beginnings of that.

It's perfectly fine for women (or anyone) to sleep to the top. Quid pro quo sex is perfectly fine among willing participants. You'd be surprised at how many women are perfectly fine with it. I'd probably do it too if I really wanted a career somewhere in the entertainment industry (I'm actually from the modeling world). More woman than you think do it. They just don't tell anyone they had done it, just like how some women don't tell about their abortion, for obvious reasons. Quite a few of my female friends confessed to each other about it over the years.

We are actually in agreement on that. I really don't care how "learning" is implemented in the system, so long as it is. A program that modifies itself, based on its own experiences, is in some sense "intelligent". A system that always follows a pre-set tree of instructions is no more intelligent than a toppling chain of dominoes (which can exhibit very complex patterns if you are clever enough in setting them up).

I like the final, non-official, Connery Bond movie, Never Say Never Again. I just liked it, so there!

One of my favorite pieces of Bond trivia is that the non-official movies NSMA and the original Casino Royale have theme songs performed by Lani Hall and Herb Alpert who are married.

Last night I was reading about NSNA and the dispute that led to it being made. I guess the upshot is that any and all non-canonical Bond films made by the group that made NSNA have to use Thunderball as their source material. Fortunately, I liked Thunderball so also like NSNA.

If it’s really about “country over party” then no need to froth at the mouth anytime Democrats are criticized for their inaction & poor leadership

I’ve only seen 2, but Strange has to be serious and downtrodden.

This should not be controversial but sadly in the world we live in it is.

The hot rod flame design, once cool, looks dated and cliche now.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

And soon it will be "retro-cool"!
