Severed was great, too short though.

The Dark Horse series Colder might be right up your alley, Green Wake is also good if short.
Also would recommend Rachel Rising, one of the better ongoing indies in my opinion. Plus it also deals with witches!

I found it more eerie and ethereal than scary

    Scary comics suggestions:

    The Empty Man
    The Fiction
    Locke & Key
    Wolf Moon
    Harrow County
Alan Moore's Swamp Thing (or Scott Snyders run paired with Lemire's Animal Man)
    Nameless
    Providence
    From Hell
    The Wake
    Colder

will probably edit more stuff onto this list later

What he said! David Hine is just great when it comes to delivering the warped and disturbing.

Disliked it. The colorist really did a disservice to the art, which in turn hurt the story.

I think if the longer you ponder it, the more creepy it becomes. But I wouldn't say it's particularly frightening in the moment of reading it. But man if you read it and then go outside late at night alone, yeah, there's a couple chills it sends. Regardless, is is a well written book, and the re-creation of the Witch mythology is pretty cool

It's good but do not expect something life-changing about it...

It's good and scary for a comic. I don't think it's as godly as some reviews/year lists make it come off as. But I'd recommend it for sure.
Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. -- Grant Morrison, 2008
