Marvel's Jessica Jones (Spoilers)

It seems with Marvel's shows, the only characters they will race or gender bend are the supporting ones. Case in point, Jeryn Hogarth in Jessica Jones and Ben Urich in Daredevil. Also, Baron Mordo in Doctor Strange, Heimdall in Thor, etc.

Even after all the talk and suggestions regarding the new Spider-Man reboot, they still cast white guy as Peter Parker, and we saw was Sony's guidelines to casting and portrayal for Peter Parker.

I've seen a few bloggers sort of pushing the idea of an Asian actor playing Danny Rand. I would say there's nothing inherently wrong with that idea, but I don't see Marvel/ABC/Netflix going forward with that idea.

For Jessica Jones, David Tennant's Kilgrave is quite possibly one of the most terrifying forces seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Unrepentant and his evil has no depth. Not to mention he has the attitude of a spoiled brat who doesn't get what he wants, but he has the power to tell you to do anything he wants.

Name change seems pointless hes not a popular character. Unless they explain it and i havent seen it yet.

Dont really care for the character outside of a walking talking embodiment of Wolverines guilt for his horrible past. Though if written right he could be a tragic character. Always trying to do the right thing but is always doing the wrong thing.

Nuke. They did Nuke. I. Holy cow. They got me, too. The revelation, when he started crying about "his boys" and the doctor pulls out the 3 pill bottles. Hit me like a ton of bricks. Well done, sirs and madams. The only missed opportunity would've been to have Kilgrave tell him to carve the flag into his face (since Wolverine isn't around to do it for him). I'm willing to bet he'll be back as a major threat in Defenders.

There's a lot to take in with this show. I wasn't expecting to watch it all in one sitting, but I ended up doing exactly that. It's not perfect. It's got some tonal shift issues. Some irritating, useless characters. Some odd choices. But overall, it certainly fills a unique spot in the MCU. And hot damn, is it dark and violent. This is even more graphic than Daredevil was.
