    Default DC LGBT Appreciation

I checked and couldn't find this discussion existing in this forum. The Marvel forum has a very well thought out version in it.

I'm intending this to be a place to discuss events surrounding DC's LGBT character specifically. What do you like or not like?

Anyways, right now DC has a lot of great books out right now starring their LGBT characters. Off the top of my head there's Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Secret Six, Midnighter, DC Bombshells, and Constantine. I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but it's pretty amazing how many are being put out in such a short period of time.

Who are your favorite LGBT titles and who are your favorite LGBT characters at DC right now?

Right now my favorites being published are Midnighter and DC Bombshells.

    Constantine is gay?

    .....

Anyway, my all-time favorite LGBT character has always been Midnighter before everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Bunker, Poison Ivy, Catman & Batwoman are other favorites.

    He's bi.

Though you'll find plenty of readers who believe otherwise.

You can find people who think Nathan Lane is straight and J'onn is black.

Which, really, should be a sitcom: Nathan, John, and J'onn share an flat and try to convince the landlord that they're all straight but, no, J'onn isn't black, he's a Martian. Cue laugh track.
Patsy Walker on TV! Patsy Walker in new comics! Patsy Walker in your brain! And Jessica Jones is the new Nancy! (Oh, and read the Comics Cube.)

    New 52:

    Catman
    Midnighter

    Pre-"Flashpoint"

    Catman
    Scandal Savage
    John Constantine

I picked Piper because (a) I thought he had the best coming-out scene in mainstream comics, and (b) in the years following his coming out, he was my favorite. He had a sense of humor that I found enjoyable and familiar. This was post-CoIE (Wally West Flash), pre-Flashpoint days.

But then they went all wildly angsty on him, got grim, and, in my opinion, pretty much ruined him. And in The New 52, he has been a minor and uninteresting tertiary character whose backstory (and years as a criminal) we know nothing about - practically a cipher.
