Regarding potential ups and downs, I'm a bit worried about the freakouts that are going to be inevitable here everytime anything is hinted at. I was going to say there will be freakouts any time a down is hinted at, but I think it'll also apply to every up.

The editor, Nick Lowe, wrote how they had to hide the twists and turns in the solicits and the previews, and so they probably wrote misleading copy on purpose to through off suspicion (such as Spidey getting the black suit, multiple love interests, etc.). He even mentioned in the issue that they will try their best to avoid spoilers as much as possible.

Yep, that's why I didn't put all my faith in the solicits and interviews, because I knew they had some secrets up their sleeves and wanted to wait to see what it would be in the actual issues, and all the reveals and story turns ended up being very surprising, in a good way. I'm all for them trying to keep as much as possible a surprise.

Also, I think most people forgot before Superior Spider-Man was revealed to be about Doc Ock, the solicits and interviews they gave never once mentioned Otto, just a "darker, edgier Spider-Man".

Lois and Clark were on-again/off-again. The New 52 era was off-again.

I said this same thing during Slott's run when I said Peter/MJ were on-again/off-again. Some people didn't believe me when I said they would be on-again someday. And I'm finding it ironic when other people don't believe me when I say they will someday be off-again.

Did Mattel sign an exclusive tie-up with WB/DC some time after the 80's? I don't remember seeing any recent Marvel heroine Barbies but there have been many DC heroine Barbies.

It's actually Marvel who did an exclusive deal - their toys are Hasbro.

I like what I'm hearing. Dan Slott definitely respected MJ as a character and her place in the lore, but I don't think he would have gone so far as to say he's a fan of her like Spencer here.
