Pretty good match for the role of MJ. I had been concerned she was going to overshadow whoever played MJ, so this solves that concern.
Every day is a gift, not a given right.
"Mary Jane (Watson)" has been trending on a few different social media sites since the report that Zendaya was playing her.
Feels weird to be into the mainstream Spidey love interest again.
Listen, however this shakes out, can we all agree to never tell John Byrne this is happening? I don't need to hear that.
I'm in love with Mary Jane
She's my main thing.
She makes me feel alright.
She makes my heart sing.
Just throwing this out here, and this is in no way meant to discredit Zendaya if she's playing MJ (because I think she could do a great job in the role), but would anyone still like to see Bella Thorne as Mary Jane?
I am kind of banking on Zendaya looking more like classic MJ (red hair, wardrobe, etc.) for the "Face it Tiger..." moment at the end of Homecoming.
If she really is playing Mary Jane, that is...
And I guess MJ going from "girl next door" to "bombshell" is a kind of John Hughes trope? I don't know, I haven't seen that many John Hughes movies .
Dan Slott tweeted a little on Zendaya's possible casting as MJ. He said similar things about the possible casting of a non-white actor as Peter Parker before Tom Holland was cast. Hope he doesn't mind me quoting him here because I agree with him.

https://twitter.com/DanSlott/status/766473159021387776So many fans upset over a possible Black MJ
Yet none of you were upset Peter met Gwen in high school instead of college in the last 2 films
And someone tweeted this to Slott.Heroes & great characters come in every color
& they are for EVERYONE.
There's nothing about Peter Parker or Mary Jane
that HAS to be white.
Slott responded with this.@DanSlott you say this now, but if someone like Luke cage was played by a white guy, you would consider it racist

https://twitter.com/DanSlott/status/766475903891279872That would be racist.
Luke Cage's identity is strongly tied to his race.
Spider-Man and MJ's characters aren't.
https://twitter.com/DanSlott/status/766476467085643776There's 50+ years of a white Peter Parker & a white Mary Jane.
Those comics/movies aren't being burned or erased.
It's ok to share the toys.
Final comment:
It's ok for EVERYONE to have the most popular characters reflect them.
AND to have new, original characters reflect them TOO.
