I was also suprised to see Cardin, especially since he seemed to be enjoying himself fighting grimm, maybe he stuck around to make his pride feel a bit better after Jaune saved him before.

As for Cinder:

Asura(Soul Eater AND Asura's Wrath), Sousuke Aizen/Butterflaizen, Father (FMA:BROTHERHOOD), Naraku vs Cinder. So, she thinks that just because she gets some Avatar-esque power that she's all that? Let people who were closer than she ever will to tasting REAL godhood show her how it's done. Particularly one who has actually KILLED "God".
