    Default Create a new X-Force

As there is no current team of X-Force running around the MU at present, how about we make one up?

Who do you think would make for a good line-up? What should their mission statement be?

I'd like to see the next line-up stick with the idea of X-Force being a black-ops squad of mutants that targets not just dangers to the mutant community, but threats of all kinds around the world. A.I.M. is setting up a biological weapons lab in the jungles of Congo? X-Force is going in to take them out. Mr Sinister is experimenting with a clone army of god-like mutates? X-Force is shutting his ass down with extreme prejudice. They would basically be a mutant version of S.H.I.E.L.D. but on a smaller scale.

    My team would be:

Agent X/Maverick (David North): Team leader. Highly experienced black-ops agent. Kinetic energy absorption/re-channelling gives him extra oomph to his prodigious weapons/hand to hand skills.

Warpath: Team brick. Heightened senses make him an brilliant tracker. His strength and nigh-invulnerability added to his formidable hand to hand and stealth skills make him more lethal than most team bruisers, especially with his penchant to using dual Vibranium knives in combat.

Shatterstar: Insanely skilled super-gladiator from another dimension who lives for combat. Very handy in a fight. Every mutant death squad needs a man like him around.

Bishop: He's been sitting in limbo for a couple of years now, so get him back off the bench and back to being the badass future cop he was back in the 90's. He's got plenty of experience in combat, having grown up in the future fighting Sentinels all his life. I see him as a Judge Dredd type of super-cop, but with awesome energy absorption/re-channelling abilities to go with his futuristic version of SWAT gear.

Dani Moonstar: She's got the hunting/fighting/tracking skills, badass bow and arrows, Valkryie-type nonsense to call on, PLUS she's got mutant mind-fu*kery powers that make people see their greatest fears. So she'd be great for the teams "enhanced interrogation" sessions on any prisoners they happen to take.

Silver Samurai: A warrior who's lived a life of crime, privilege and violence and lives by a strict code of honor, forced into a team of black-ops soldiers in order to write a wrong he commited in the past. The team needed a reformed bad guy to fill a spot, and the original Silver Samurai seemed a good fit. Plus the chance to see him and Shatterstar in a sword fight would be pretty damn awesome.

Feral: The team wild card. She's a woman trapped in a beasts body. Her mutation makes he more bestial in behaviour, and it can rub her team mates the wrong way (hyper aggression, sexually promiscious, prone to bloodlust and a need to hunt/kill things), but she stills see's herself as the young girl she was BEFORE her mutation, only imagined older in her mind's eye now she's a woman, and she's only bestial in appearance. To the world around her she's Feral, but and she IS, but she can't see that, and thinks how she behaves is normal, which makes her both tragic and terrifying at the same time.

Mimic: The team nutjob and heavy hitter. He gets sent in to clean house, mostly. His powers of Cyclop's optic beams, Iceman's ice-manipulation abilities, Beast's strength and agility, Angel's wings and Jean Grey's telekinesis make him a one-man army. Add in his telepathy and he's also the team's intel gatherer and communications system. Only problem is the guys sanity. If they can keep his head in the game then he'd be an invaluable asset.

So who would you pick for your X-Force line-up? What would their function be in the current MU climate?

Aren't some people in your list dead or de-powered? Is this using current status quo or in a vacuum?

    I'll use current status quo;

Cyclops- because if he's alive, he'll be on outskirts of trust amongst his peers. He'd be extreme but controlled. Much like Cable.

Gambit- he's an anti-hero at heart and just missed making several versions of the team. His powers, skills and mindset may lend themselves quite well to the cause.

Maddrox- he's able to make the hard choice and can be pretty dark but stay in relative control

Domino- she was literally made to be on X-Force.

Frenzy- connections to both Gambit and unrequited love for Cyclops, as well as being a zealot for mutant kind. She also has threatened to rip people in half.

Bishop- needs redemption and will go to lengths he deems necessary

Sage- logistics and overwatch. She's cold and calculating and will help keep things running smoothly from a distance. She can also handle herself and act as calvary.

I'd take them to being the Special Operations and espionage division of the X-Men. Rather than being a hit squad like many of the more recent iterations, they instead deal with the threats that need to be taken out quietly and with discretion, perhaps because the existence of their targets is SO dangerous that they can't risk them being exposed to the public. X-Force would also be tasked with intelligence-gathering.

Wolverine (Laura Kinney): The team leader. Black Widow once noted her leadership abilities, so this will give her the opportunity to do so. She's also one of Marvel's most accomplished assassins, with extensive SpecOps/espionage training, and it's rare we get to see Laura fully use her primary skill set. This would also lead to the character drama as struggles with to balance her desire to avoid killing against doing what she has to, while also exploring her growing pains as a leader. After the more unscrupulous iterations of X-Force we've seen recently, it would also offer a distinct change of pace.

Cable: The veteran and second-in-command. He'd butt heads with Laura over her restraint, but would also guide and shepherd her as she learns how to lead. Perhaps there could be a story reason why Cable himself is unable to take the reigns, requiring someone else to step up.

Gambit: Laura's closest confidant on the team. Additionally, Gambit's skills make him perfect for a team built around stealth and clandestine operations.

Nemesis: First, the team needs their Q. Second, I feel like tossing him in just because it's Nemesis.

Shogun: Not a mutant himself, but connected to the X-Men via Laura and Weapon X. Extensive Black Ops experience due to his Delta training, but Ogun in his head makes him a potential wildcard and liability.

Nightcrawler: The Heart of the team, often in conflict with its more violent members, and supports Laura's efforts to avoid inflicting unnecessary causalities. His teleportation ability allows the team to get in and out quickly and quietly.

We need a team of stone cold murderers mixed with more reluctant ones who are still ready, willing, and able to take targets out.

    Cable: Leader. Duh.
Bishop: Second in command. Surprisingly good friends with Cable once Hope is out of the picture.
Archangel [Life Seed]: Every X-Force now needs its whiny pacifist healer who might actually be the most powerful member of the team.
Banshee [Death Seed]: WAY more murder-happy than everyone else. Gets into conflict with Archangel all the time.
Domino: Good luck, better aim. An oddly maternal figure to the younger X-women on the team.
X-23: Killer looking for a better way who will still calmly decapitate you if necessary. She and Dani squabble almost like sisters but are good friends.
Dani Moonstar: Baddest bitch on the planet with or without mutant/magic powers.

...and the obligatory rival evil X-Force team comprised of characters I detest...
Hope: Finally turns evil, making the 'good' X-Force kill her and her band of idiots.
    Beast: Co-leader. Duh.

    Frenzy
    Kid Omega

If we're going for a more espionage team...

    Emma Frost: Leader and financier.
Magik: Second in command, transportation, devious devilry.
    Stepford Cuckoos: Creepy communication.
Pete Wisdom: Prefers to call himself a consultant rather than a team member, spy stuff.
    Gambit: Seducer, thief, infiltrator.
    Benjamin Deeds: Seducer, infiltrator.
    Forge: Tech wiz.
    Cypher: Tech wiz, people reader.
    Cipher: Infiltrator, surveillance.
    ForgetMeNot: Infiltrator, surveillance.

i would like a team were they take on any threat to mutants, by evil mutants, Sentinels, aliens, inhumans, humans or other heroes. Meaning they need a team filled with people who don't made getting their hands dirty for mutantkind.

    Sage - Leader
    Warpath
    Shatterstar
    Domino
    Frenzy
    Joseph
    Bishop
    Spiral
    Daken
The dream is dead, so wake up and fight!

    I liked the team from X-men '92:

    - Cable
    - Domino
    - Bishop
    - Psylocke
    - Deadpool
    - Archangel

But honestly with Magneto's new Uncanny X-men team there's really no need for X-Force right now.

I'm good with that team, too ^^^

I'd even say the team from Deadpool vs. X-Force except with Wade on the team instead of an antagonist of sorts. But even if that were the case and he was still a regular, I wouldn't mind it.

+ Gambit though. I'd love to see him in that type of environment

The mandate is to continue the stopping the threats to the "mutant nation", whether it's mutant threats or otherwise. Shift to more of a spy/stealth unit than an explosive team.

Hope Summers - a continuation from Spurrier's run, She has taken up leading X-force. Though she mandates no Killing, she was raised by Cable, she'll make the hard call if she has to.

Domino - Sticking with Hope, partially to help her cuase, partially to watch over her. She does Recon and and infiltrate. May or may not be reporting to Cable about Hope.

Gambit - Theif used for "extracting" things, and can throw down when needs to. Interestingly is the heart and moral compass of the team. Reminds them why they are doing what they do and pushes to not kill.

Warpath - The calvary for when things get rough. And let's be real, it's a comic book, so things will get real all the time. Plus his tracking skills can be put to use.

Danger - Convinced to join by Gambit. General utility for anything tech/transportation/utility. She's using this this as an opportunity to explore morality and decide where she lies on the scale. Between all the villains and their terrible deeds, and how far the team is willing to go, it's a contrast to her exposure to other superhero teams.

I'd also like to see a Suicide Squad-style team using various X-Villains that have been captured and are in "mutant jail", forced into missions deemed impossible, and regarded as expendable. Rather than having explosives in their heads or nanites in their blood to control them, it's a drug using a combination of the Purple Man's virus/pheromones and stem cells from the mutant Mesmero that enables the team's handlers to make them do what they're told.

The whole squad is secretly a Weapon X project offshoot run by Mr Sinister, but simply given a shiny new coat of paint and rebranding it "X-Force" so as to appease the government agencies who sign off on the squad's missions.

The squad members I'd like to see in the first few rotations would be:

Sebastian Shaw: I like the idea of Shaw being under someone's control and being forced onto a team like this. This is so beneath him it sickens him, yet he's powerless to do anything about it. He's smart enough to be patient and play ball until he gets his moment to strike, but being surrounded by the "scum" on this team would weigh on his patience heavily. He'll use his formidable intellect and tactical mind, as well as his natural talent for leadership, along with his enormous strength and invulnerability, to achieve mission success no matter what, as Shaw's pride will not let him accept failure (even IF he's being forced to undergo said missions), and he'll play the role of the "perfect soldier" until he can find a way to escape and kill his jailers.

Fatale: Badass ninja assassin. She's perfect for this team. Not much more to say. Cool teleportation powers. Can alter light around her to make herself either invisible or to look like someone else. She wouldn't need much persuasion to take part in these missions. Tempt her with money and a reduced sentence and she'll go kill whoever they want her to kill.

Toad: I like the idea of a usually piss-weak, laughable joke of a character getting their time to shine and look like a badass. And this would be that moment for Toad. Naturally he'd be the first one picked to die on the first mission, but I would love to see him managing to survive nightmarish suicide mission after nightmarish suicide mission until he's a PTSD-ridden, mentally unstable, highly unpredictable, unhinged killing machine who has the most ridiculous knack for cheating death in unsurvivable situations. He could be like Glenn from The Walking Dead. The guy they throw down the well first to see what's down there waiting to kill them. And every time he survives he comes back a little more "changed". A little more of his sanity gets taken until he WANTS to die, but no matter how dangerous the missions get, he flukes his way out and cheats death again.

Sauron Technically a mutate, not a true mutant, he's still close enough to be considered worthy of imprisonment in the facility the squad is in, and thus recruited onto the team for not only his aerial capabilities, but his hypnotic mind control powers and energy draining abilities. It's weird, but despite looking like a 10ft tall humanoid Pteranodon, Sauron is quite suited to infiltrating a secured facility.

Gorgeous George: Awesome visual appeal, as well as a laid back attitude which makes him a nice balance for the more extreme personalities on the squad. He's a walking, talking mass of shape-shifting, tar-like goo who can kick all kinds of ass, but also thinks he's God's gift to women and irresistibly charming despite his monstrously frightening appearance.

Scalphunter: No stranger to dangerous missions, given his previous occupations as a mercenary and marine, he brings invaluable field experience and is also the teams tech guy. Also the long range firepower specialist.

Amelia Voght: Team transport. A good person deep down, but serving a hefty prison sentence for her alliance with The Acolytes, so she was labelled a terrorist and given life commuted down to 25 years. She gets it knocked down even further to 5 years if she participates in the missions. She is the only member of the squad not facing a death sentence, so she's been treated more favourably than the others.

The heavy artillery, or WMD's of the team would be the extremely powerful and dangerous mutants that are kept locked up in special containment cells deep beneath the prison, and only brought out when absolutely necessary. And those guys are:

    Proteus
    Stryfe
    Absolom Mercator
    Mikhail Rasputin
    Holocaust

The new X-Force is a hit-squad secretly assembled by Emma Frost. Through an old Hellfire Club contact, Emma has heard rumours that Trevor Fitzroy has reappeared in the present day, and now she's determined to get the revenge she never had years ago for the death of her students and her own critical injuries. Her team:

Bishop: The obvious first choice. No-one knows better how to track Fitzroy. Emma has just one rule - once they capture Fitzroy, she gets to be the one who kills him.

Warpath: A powerful frontline fighter, he's keen to make Fitzroy pay for what he did.

Husk: She trusts Emma, and her recent instability has left her more reckless and willing to take on risky missions.

Gambit: Has an array of useful skills and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty.

Warbird: Providing the team with another strong combatant, she was at a loose end and easily recruited by Emma.

Well, I did this almost 11 months ago now, back in late January of this year:

... and considerin' the X-Force brand's historical black sheep status, and a more recent MO of intesifying that perception to the max, I think it applies rather aptly. HOWEVER, with Magneto, Psylocke, & Archangel being used for the upcoming Uncanny, and Jean, Iceman, & Nightcrawler already claimed by Extraordinary, along with Dazzler occupied in A-Force & Frenzy's support to All-New Inhumans... that only leaves me with Polaris, Gambit, Sunfire, & Banshee. Which gives me a NEW idea, based off a theme from the first 2, Remy & Lorna... of nostalgia, just give me a bit, to put it together.
