    Smile Original TMNT

Hey guys I just had a quick question on those knowledgeable about the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle run in the 80's by Laird and Eastman produced by Mirage.

I'm sure they've put them into trade, but what are the best or biggest or greatest value trade collections? Want to get something for him to sign at Heroes con this upcoming week.

Probably the TMNT Ultimate Hard Cover collections from IDW.

Eastman and Laird worked on the initial issues of TMNT, but after a few years (and when movies and cartoons and other business stuff occupied their time) they stopped being the regular creators of the comic book and only came back sporadically, doing the big, important storylines. When they weren't doing that, a rotating series of guest artists and writers delivered one-shot stories and the occasional short arc. Some of these are in continuity, some are not, and some are really wildly different reinterpretations of the TMNT.

    It's all very confusing.

The Ultimate Collection hardcovers collect only the Eastman and Laird issues. This is pretty much the essential stuff. The other classic material is being collected in a series of tbs.

^So far the Eastman/Laird issues are only collected in the hardcovers.

Late to the party with this reply, particularly with the con being this weekend, but...I believe there are two options for Mirage volume 1 TPBs.

    1) The weaker option: There are very old TPB collections from the 80s/90s that only collect 3-5 issues at a time and are $15+ a pop online.

    2) The better, but still not amazing option (linked below): There was a TPB collection released in 2009. It's OOP and looks like it can be had for around $60 on Amazon. Probably about double what you'll pay for the Ultimate HC volume 1, but it also has 8 more issues.
