Aside the sense of fashion, I don't see much of a connection between the one in comics and the one on screen.
But fair enough they change her considering how little she appeared in comics... most of which turned out to be an illusion.

That said, if she proves popular enough in the movie, I do expect her to return from the dead... which would add another girl with gothic tastes to Marvel's growing collection also feat: X-23, Nico Minoru, Mania...

It wouldn't be a Fox movie without flagrant disregard for previously established characteristics(including powers). At least they finally got Colossus's look right, and even made him Russian. Baby steps...

Not like she was a prominent or well-established character in the books in the first place. They could probably get away with it even WITHOUT retconning her power set.
