I finished Planetes. Beautifully written and drawn. I loved the characters and the content and the way the writer chose to order what story and character he'd focus on was really good. I don't think anything else I've ever read has handled that in that way. You know something is particularly good when you feel a bit empty after finishing and this qualifies.

Any other omnibus sized recommendations? I'm already making my way in to Gundam Origin and have no interest in fantasy or magic related stuff.

I'm a big fan of anything by Naoki Urasawa. If you haven't read Monster, you need to do yourself that favor and at least get the first collection. Although Master Keaton is not nearly as good, it still coming out in big sized formats. Other books I'd recommend in big format:

    Vagabond
    Gunsmith Cats
    Crying Freeman

Even though you say you have no interest in fantasy or magic. I would highly recommend anything done by Junji Ito like Gyo, Fragments of Terror and of course Uzumaki.

Cheers, I'll have a look. I'm tempted by Vagabond because I love samurai stuff but the novel is one of my favourite books and often when I really love something another version in a different format usually loses it's interest to me.

Just checked out Crying Freeman on amazon. Written by Koike, added straight to shopping basket lol.

I read Crying Freeman like 7 years ago or so and it was fun. I don't recomand it for anyone under 18 years old though, it has sexual content. And it was nowhere near as good as Lone Wolf And Cub...Lone Wolf and Cub is phenomanel or Lady Snowblood (all of the Koike series which i read) but it's a fun read if you don't mind abit silliness here and there...

June haul. Started with trying out Emma and catching up on Devil is a Part Timer, and spiraled into 3 more rightstuf orders. Picked up Kimi ni Todoke because I've wanted to continue reading it ever since I got the first volume for free at a Viz panel at NYCC two years ago. Loved every single volume I got, and just place an order for the next 18. Emma was a good but weird read for me. Both the leads weren't really interesting for me at first but once I finished the first volume I really wanted to read more. Twin Star Exorcists was another catch up, and everything else is my usual pre order stuff.

Let me know how Emma is. Seen it around but never got around to it. Also nice to see another fan of Devil is a Part-timer. I got the novels instead of the manga though.

Emma is good love drama, though it is a cliche maid and rich guy in love story but his family doesn't approve. Leads were dull at first but get better once they are separated. Art and side characters are the really strong points of the series (like when we see what made the male lead's father become the way he is). I've finished the main story which ends half way through the fourth omnibus, then after that apparently its side stories and an after story with a second ending. I'm gonna wait for the 5th book to come out in August and finish up the rest then.

If you try Emma and like it, give Mori's current series "A Bride's Story" a shot. It's basically what Emma turned into after the main story ends. There is still a main couple that a majority of the chapters focus on, but we get a lot of side characters becoming the focus at times. Art is amazing too.
