East of West #1-24: when i started it yesterday, i thought that it didn't exactly lived up to the hype. now that i've finished all of it there is, i find it quite good, Dragotta's art is excellent, and story-wise, i'm hooked, give me more. i guess the fact that i devoured 24 issues in several hours (of two days) betrays my interest rather loudly. on a special note, i absolutely loved #22, silent, dynamic and full of adrenaline.
Karma Police #1: not much to say
Paybacks #4: continues to be a very fun series which i will thoroughly enjoy rereading when it's trade-collected
Paper Girls #1-4: BKV, fantastic, loving it and coming back for more

Anything Goes #2: This Fantagraphics anthology issue is best known for Alan Moore's Pictopia, a riff on mature versions of classic characters. But there's also material by Jamie Hernandez, Jack Kirby and Art Spiegelman. Add the Frank Miller cover, and it may just be the best lineup of any comic book ever.

Invincible Iron Man #1-5 (ANAD): Enjoyable first volume from Bendis. It isn't very groundbreaking, but it's quite fun, with an interesting showdown against an underutilized villain, and some good guest-starr appearances.

Deadpool: Dracula's Gambit #1-7: Fun mix of Deadpool with a lot of weird concepts. One of those comics that threw a lot of stuff at the wall, and everything stuck. Uses the digital format pretty well.

Secret War #1-5: Gorgeously illustrated, although the stakes are diminished by the lack of immediate consequences in other titles.

Groot #1-6: Fun scifi romp, with a very sweet epilogue.

Avengers Volume 3 #65-71: The Red Zone arc has high stakes diminished by ridiculous levels of padding, unnecessary interteam conflict and some mixed results from artist Coipel.

    And the Spider-Man...
Peter Parker the Spectacular Spider-Man #32-34
    Ultimate Spider-Man #156-160
    Silk #1-7

    Total: 393 Issues

Best of the Batch: I'm goinging to go with the Ultimate Spider-Man story. It's as tense as a comic in which the hero is beaten to death should be.
    Sincerely,

Faith #1: It looks like it can be a fun series. Interested in seeing where it goes.

Crossed vol.2: Family Values #1-7: The first series by Garth Ennis was great. But wow, David Lapham kicked it up a notch. Disturbing, yet entertaining.

Hawkman vol.4: #13-14: Geoff Johns is the definitive Hawkman writer for me.

Cage vol.2: #3- I would not mind if the Netflix series was modeled after Azzarello's miniseries.

Incredible Hulk: Crossroads took me to 126. A heartbreaking story about poor old Hulk working his way through some wacky dimensions full of colour and character and invariably ending up back where he started before the series is left suitably normal for the incoming writer after Bill Mantlo finishes his run.

Hellblazer: How To Play With Fire added another 13 issues, so up to 139 for January. Didn't care much for the Jenkins issues here, but I think that's because I'm not a Constantine fan, I'm a Garth Ennis fan, and the five issues of his in this latest reprint volume (Son of Man from 2000 or so) were worth the price of the book.

Just to clarify, my Hellblazer 'collection' consists of books 5,6,7,8 and 12. No OCD here! ;-p

I read a lot of Valiant this week. I'm now through the first Dr. Mirage miniseries. I think, so far, that has been my favorite book. It's what I feel like Shadowman could have been, if it didn't go off the rails near the end. The Archer & Armstrong and Quantum and Woody series, including the Delinquents, were great as well. I hope I can get through a nice chunk of 2015 in the next couple weeks and be caught up to the new releases by March. I also read the X-Force piece of the X-Statix Omnibus along with the 1st issue of X-Statix. I'm trying to spread it out, but I binged that first chunk in one day. It's great and Mike Allred is on point as always.

His Dream of the Skyland (14 issues worth) - Excellent stuff about a young guy and his friends in early 20th century Kowloon and Hong Kong. Undeliverable letters, opium and child abduction, all set in a sort of dreamy surroundings. Really enjoyed this first installment of a trilogy.

Sykes (3 issues worth) - Really good western bd. Amazing drawings, pretty good story, nothing too surprising and a bittersweet ending. I love me some westerns!!

Animal Man 6-9 - MEH. Hope this is getting better soon. Slightly better than average 80s fare. (yet). (4)
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind Chapters 1 & 2 - YAY!!! It really is as fantastic as everyone says. I already have the oversized edition but would love it to be even bigger to enjoy Miyazaki's art even more. This is a must-read for every fan of the medium. (13)

The Orion Omnibus takes me up to 164. It was by turns spectacular and confusing, but never less than brilliantly illustrated.

Been off with my daughter having chicken pox so managed to get through

X-Force Collection 2 - absolutely superb, slow start in book one but right upto end of book two it was just brilliant.
Supervillian Team Up Collection- really struggled with this book, way to much dialogue and felt a chore

    2016 books - 229

I like the art the most about the book. The first issue being over-sized allowed for me to to appreciate the world building that's going on. From what I've read, it's good enough for me to stick with it for the foreseeable future.
