Vixen: Return of the Lion #1-5: I loved this series so much. It felt like a looked into Mari's diary and all of her intimate moments. G. Willow Wilson seemed like she was laying down the foundation for a Vixen title. But of course, nothing came of it.

Deadshot vol 2 #1-5: We see a side of Floyd that is never ever shown. Maybe there is some good within him.

DC: The New Frontier TPB: Beautiful art, beautiful storytelling. I think this book is essential reading for anyone who is interest in the golden and silver age.

    ANAD Avengers #3

    All-New Wolverine #4

    Red Hood/Arsenal #8

    Worst X-Man Ever #2

    Catwoman #48

Green Lantern Corps: Edge of Oblivion #1: I wasn't blown away, it was solid. But it did enough for me to stick around.

1st post of 2016! Glad to see all the new participants this year. I enjoy seeing what everyone is reading and hearing some of your thoughts.

IZombie Omnibus (28) - Thought this was a decent read. I didn't like it as much as some of the other posters. I like my Vertigo to be a little more mature. This sort of came across like a tween novel to me. Unfortunate it was cancelled early, there were several plot threads i wouldn't have minded seeing fleshed out more.

Autumnlands TP vol. 1 (6) - Enjoyed this! I bought this after i saw some praise on these boards for it. Not sure who this Dewey guy is, but his art was great. I would imagine it's no small task to handle a cast full of anthropomorphic characters.

Rat Queens HC (11) - Another blind buy based off these boards. I enjoyed this as well. Right up my alley for sure. Thought the transition between artists was seamless. Though i've heard another artist change is to be expected in the following issues.

Punk Rock Jesus HC (6) - Return to an old favorite. Sean Murphy's art in b&w...wow. Just wow. Great character work as well.

*on a side note, between Autumnlands and Rat Queens, i believe I've met my male full-frontal quota for the year, and we're barely 2 weeks in lol.

    51 for the year

really? shame, I liked the second artist. Liked the first one as well until he got into domestic violence.

Really slow-going so far, but I'll be able to pick up the pace once I'm done teaching this week.

Green Lantern #46 - Gil Kane's mastery of facial expressions somehow makes Hal seem charming despite his overreach of power in forcing confessions out of criminals.

Green Lantern: Sinestro Corps Special #1 - This epitomized a lot of the criticism toward Geoff Johns as a Silver Age revisionist who relies too heavily on graphic violence as a crutch. I'm not too familiar with Kyle Rayner's Ion persona, but the narrative takes great lengths to build him up just to illegitimatize him.

Infinite Crisis #1 - Once again, the violent deaths of a few characters Johns has no love for is really off-putting. I'm only reading this because Superboy Prime and the Anti-Monitor are Sinestro Corps members, but I enjoyed Johns's operatic tone more here than above.

while I agree that the violence is sometimes a bit off putting with Jones I've seen worse (writers killing of characters they don't want to use) but Superboy prime....erhh. I really like IC but Superboy prime is the worst and most annoying villain ever (after the Joker). Hated him here and in Sinestro corpse war too.

This is my first time reading both. I can already tell he's going to be a whiney little bastard from the first issue of IC with his "I wasn't created to be a hero" nonsense. I like the Joker, but the "two sides of the same coin" dichotomy between him and Batman has grown tiresome since The Dark Knight.

Logan by Brian K. Vaughan #1-3: I wasn't aware of this mini at all. But I'm aware of the writer, so I automatically knew what to expect. Wolverine can be a complex character who is more than just a savage brute, only under the right writer of course. We see many sides to Logan in only 3 issues.

Cage vol.2 by Brian Azzarello #1-2: Everytime I mention this series to someone, they always go on about how much they hated it. I can see why some do. I'm loving it so far. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to get into the character.

Existence 2.0 #1-3: Lots of interesting concepts in a mini-series about a very flawed scientist who accidentally switches bodies with the man hired to kill him. And things go nuts from there.

Existence 3.0 #1-3: The follow-up isn't as satisfying. A villain with multiple personalities is a bad move for a series where identities are already so confusing.

Batman Annual 13: Excellent one-off by James Owsley (soon to be the writer known as Priest) pitting Batman against Two-Dace, and dealing with the legacy of Batman's tragedies.

Wisdom #1-6: Very Millar/ Hitch Ultimates inspired series about flawed superheroes dealing with very British situations. Fun, but takes a dark turn.

The Hunger #1-8: Lots of weird horror concepts get combined into one story. Flawed but interesting.

The Cartoon History of the Universe
    #1-7:
Very satisfying fun explanation of all of history, at least as it pertains to humans.

Supergirl (Peter David/ Gary Frank) #1-12:
Interesting series as PAD merges Supergirl and a seriously flawed woman.

X0 Man of War (Classic Valiant) #5-6:
Rather consequential two-parter as Alric is betrayed by a supporting character.

    Ranma 1/2 Part 2 #1-11:
Also collected as Volumes 2 and 3 of the TPB series. The rivalry between Ranma and Ryoga is the most entertaining part of the series, making stories with lightweight opponents but odd challenges interesting. The last story is pretty good, when a new enemy shows up, with a different dynamic.

The Fadeout #1-12: On a first read, I can tell this 1940s Hollywood mystery is really good, with interesting hints about the backstory that should allow for many re-reads.

    BRPD: War on Frogs #1-4
    , and bonus material:
The TPB includes a feature length story so I'm counting this as five issues. Solid standalones, although largely disposable.

    BRPD: Killing Ground
    #1-5:
Things turn to **** in interesting ways.

BRPB: The Warning 1-5/ Black Goddess 1-5/ King of Fear 1-5:
This might've been overhyped for me. It's pretty big and consequential but I was expecting bigger.

    And some Spider-Man...
    Green Goblin #1-4
Spider-Man and the Fantastic Four #1-4
    Ultimate Spider-Man Volume 2 #1-6

    Total So Far: 241

Best of the bunch: Cartoon History of the Universe. This might honestly function as a secular counterpart to the bible.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets
