I've just finished reading Hickman's Avengers run up to the end of Infinity using a reading order I found online. I still think there's some flaws to it, but like FF it reads a lot better in big chunks. Also good that his material reads so quickly, got through all this in barely a week and a half:

    Avengers #1-23
    New Avengers #1-12
    Infinity #1-6

    Also read:
Avengers Death of Mockingbird: WCA #92-94 (3 issues)
Teen Titans - Death of the Family: 6 issues
SHIELD - The Man Called DEATH: 6 issues

    That's 56 issues....

    New total of 225

Just got done with everything up to the start of Time Runs Out (waiting for the OHC). Avengers Vol 3 (#24-34) was mostly new for me - the last half I read in the Original Sin Companion - but I really enjoyed the whole lot. One of my favourite issues from the run up to this point was spoilers:
Avengers #28, with Bruce and Tony, particularly when Bruce reveals he knows the Illuminati has reformed.
end of spoilers I was planning on waiting for Time Runs Out to read all of Secret Wars (only got up to #4 before I decided to wait) but I'm off to read it all now... can always re-read it again in a few months

    update:

Manhattan Projects HC v2 (10) - Strong continuation of the first volume. Interested to see how the impending direction change affects the story.

Hawkman Omni (28) - My first foray into Hawkman, or any of DC's GA characters for that matter. Was decent work, but it did pique my interest about the JSA now, unfortunately for my wallet.

    217 + 38 = 255 for the year

Blueberry integrale vol. 1 (~8 issues) - I've read a few Blueberry stories before and was quite impressed already, but starting at the beginning of the saga with this new Dutch edition, the first of 9 volumes, makes my mouth water for more. The book starts with a 22 page introduction that gives us insight in how Blueberry came to be and more details about the French and Franco-Belgian comic strip world back in the early sixties. And then the Blueberry stories... wow... these are some of the best I've ever read in comics. Charlier is a true story telling master. The story is well thought out, with enough plot twists, but always stays believable. Jean Giraud aka Moebius works on his first comic project and does it more then well. The first pages in this book are created back in the early sixties, but they truly stand the test of time. This is wonderful comics and I can't wait to read how the story continues in the second volume. Hopefully this book becomes available trough Dark Horse also, since they acquired the rights to publish Moebius.

In The Pines: 5 Murder Ballads (~5 issues) - Murder ballads have been a popular theme in American roots music. The songs tell stories about murders that are either fiction, or based on a true story. Erik Kriek selected five murder ballads and used them as inspiration for five comic stories. These five stories are collected in this Dutch graphic novel, that I'm sure will be picked up at some stage by an American publisher. Some stories work better than others, but the drawings are all excellent! Each story has a twist, before the inevitable murder happens. This keeps each of them interesting from beginning till end, even though you sometimes see what's coming from miles ahead. The stories are as much about the murders, as they are about the characters that committed them. Each for their own reasons. The stories are set against an early 1900's American background that enable Kriek to deal with subjects such as racism, public hangings, rape, shipping and bank robbery. As an added bonus each of the five songs that inspired the stories in the book are included on cd. Not the originals, but covers performed by the Bluegrass Boogiemen with Erik Kriek.

Er was eens vol. 1 - 6 (~16 issues) - Once upon a time in France deals with the collaborator, resistance hero, father, entrepreneur etc. etc. Joseph Joanovici. He is a Romanian refugee that fled to France to build a new life. Many years later in Clichy, Paris he has build himself a successful company working together with pretty anyone with whom he can earn a buck or two. 1939 and the nazi's enter Paris. Being jewish he decides not to flee elsewhere but instead work together with the nazi's. Always, he says to protect his family. This was some really excellent comics and entertaining from beginning to end. Also this is based on a true story. No one knows exactly if Joanovici was a collaborator, or really a resistance hero, but what we get is a based on some facts story that is thrilling to read. Hope this sees a translation to English.

Canoë Bay (~4 issues) - A story about a small group of kids (some orphaned) and pirates in the 1500's that are fleeing from the French and English alike in America when the Europeans have only just set foot in discovering this continent. We see lots of Indians in the story, some that help the group survive, others will not hesitate to attack them. When they get to know each other better along the way they discover they should change their route to a small town one of the orphans' mother lived, for she has left something for him there. The illustrations by Patrick Prugne are truly otherworldly done in beautiful and dreamy aquarel. Highly recommended, but not available in English

Een wereld zonder kwaad (~3 issues) - A world without evil is set in Paraguay at the beginning of WW2 (though that has pretty much nothing to do with the story) where a European lady lives together with a group of indigenous people. The tribe all of a sudden seems to have lost the will to live. But then a new shaman shows up and leads the group through the region in search of this world without evil... Another European classic with drawings by Emmanuel Lepage, who is one of my favourite artists. Top notch stuff, that will probably never gets translated to English.

Really happy I'm more than keeping up with my monthly goals -- almost doubled it this month!
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?
