This past week I took advantage of the huge Memorial Day Sale Comixology had on DC trades and picked up:
Green Lantern: Earth One Volume 1
Batgirl: Stephanie Brown Volume 2 - Looking forward to digging into this over the weekend. Steph’s quickly become one of my favorite characters and this run has really made me want DC to make her Batgirl again.
All-Star Superman
Batman: The Long Halloween
Zatanna by Paul Dini
Teen Titans by Geoff Johns Book Two
Injustice: Gods Among Us - Year Three: The Complete Collection
Aquaman Volume 1: The Drowning - I’ve heard really good things about this series.
Aquaman Volume 2: Black Manta Rising
Detective Comics Volume 4: Dues Ex Machina
Swamp Thing by Scott Snyder Deluxe Edition - The only Swamp Thing I’ve read before buying this was in Tom King’s Batman, but it was a really good deal, so hopefully this is good.
Robin Volume 1: Reborn - I’m really trying to give Tim Drake a real shot, as currently he ranks last on my list of Robins and pretty much all Batfamily characters. I also picked up Batman: A Death in the Family from the library and I’ll read them both over the weekend most likely.
Nightwing Volume 1: Bludhaven
Young Justice Book One - See above comments about Tim Drake.
Legionnaires: Book Two
I am glad DC keeps publishing new Legion collected editions recently. I am excited to read more of so called Archie-Legion. The first volume was pure fun.
The very next week DC is also publishing Legion by DNA: BOOK TWO which is basically the reprint of the mini series, Legion: Lost.
I hope to read future volumes of both runs.
Yesterday I picked up:
- The Unexpected - Good
- Wonder Woman Annual 2 - Good
- The Man of Steel - Awesome
- Batman - Awesome
- Green Lanterns - Good
- The Curse of Brimstone - Okay
- Scott Snyder's Justice Freaking League! - Fantastic!
- DC Nation - Free, nice info, fun
WHO DAT?!!
Needed to get more sunflower seed at Agway today, so when I then stopped at the comic book shop I got:
* Batman: Prelude to the Wedding - Batgirl vs. Riddler
(only because it did feature Batgirl; I'm skipping the ones with Nightwing, Robin (Damian), and Red Hood)
* Immortal Men #3
(the cover worries me as to how bad this issue could be)
I did look over Hawkman #1 (there were two copies with the variant cover left), but I'm still on the fence.
Maybe I'll just wait for the tpb collection to come out and decide then.
Majority of what I got was stuff from Dark Horse Comics (Hellboy/B.P.R.D.-related).
Owing to chronic illness (which may be on the upturn soon I'm pleased to report) this week was the first in decades that I got my comics online late Tuesday night instead of at my LCS on Wednesday. And since this thread was still on the front page I thought I'd take the opportunity to just rank what I bought. Pretty tired, it being late (not early) in my world, so just rankings.
Any of the top 5 here could have been a top 1 on a light week. Liked or loved everything I got except Man of Steel, which is a matter of diminishing returns for me as I get to know Bendis and wonder what on earth people see in him.
1. Teen Titans Special (very pleasant surprise)
2. Prelude to the Wedding: Joker vs. Harley (this is up there with Damain vs. Ra's for best of the bunch)
3. Flash #49 - Flash War continues
4. Detective #983 (great new creative team, could have been my top book in a less great week)
5. The Terrifics #5 (Eaglesham on the outside, Shaner on the inside. Excellent issue.)
6. Man of Steel #5 (the only comic I bought but didn't like because I apparently don't speak Bendis - was very happy to see Hughes drawing other heroes - he's really evolved)
Since I bought digitally this week I can always supplement if I decide something's worth it. I was very tempted to buy Mera #5 and I probably still will. I've enjoyed the whole series.
RedHood.
Man of steel
Both of witch are subscriptions. With the Bendis Superman Monthly not far behind.
This week was a really good week. With that being said for the month of June I got.

Hal Jordan #46-47
Flash #48-49
Hawkman #1
Bane Conquest #12
Mera #5
Brave and the Bold #5

I'm sorry that you're not enjoying more at DC lately (truly) but Wonder Woman? You're skipping all of the line except for the least/worst of what DC is putting out? Wonder Woman, under Robinson, is the rare comic that regularly getting 1/5 reviews and, for those of us that have had the misfortune of reading (some of ) it, that's not for nothing. It's hard to get such a low review. Robinson achieves the low score, if nothing else.
Are you a WW completist and just don't want to break up your collection? Or could it be that you dislike all DC's doing lately except WW and Scooby Doo team-up (which is written as if it were for children), which you actually DO like?
I just don't understand.
