I'll guess that they believe the delusion that if you repeatedly shoot at something it'll eventually overwhelm the foe and it will be defeated, or maybe they watched Robocop and seriously thought history would repeat itself when they fell short 900 miles.


There is tactical retreat as it's like they never heard live to fight another day.
They clearly see their weapons didn't have or hurt him at all so it's highly assinine to remain in the same damn area, and not use a tactical retreat.
It's as dumb as continuing to shoot at bulletproof glass after you physically seeing from the 1st shot it's bulletproof glass.

Why didn't Peter Quill digitize his mix tape. That old Walkman was delicate, especially during a fight, and that tape would eventually wear out or stretch. With all that galactic technology he could have made multiple copies and kept it on the equivalent of a thumb drive.

Keep the tape for sentimental reasons, but stop playing it.
