Anyone else read X-Men #16 yet...Jubes looks kinda weird in it - not a big fan of the art. Felt a bit like another filler issue, but at least something happened at the end. Btw someone should remind Besty that after Jubes got saved by the X-women, the firecracker basically spend the next year saving the X-Men. Jubes wasn't some kid expecting the X too save her all the time. She fought along side them. This is what separates her from the other students.
Interested too see where the Shogo bit at the ends goes though.
I took it as a very much abridged version of Jubilee's origin story... "Jubilee was once a young mutant kid that was orphaned and needed to be rescued... and then found a family with the X-Men." With only one panel for Psylocke to pump the young mutants up for battle, I didn't take offense to it. I also, correct me if I'm mistaken, thought that Psylocke did mention Jubilee being an X-Man. The Future also, I believe, referred to Jubilee as a formidable member of the X-Men when he was talking to her later in the issue.
That wasn't a problem for me. What is a problem, however, is that I'm getting the feeling that she will once again have to be rescued. I feel as if she is just going to sit locked up in that room until the X-Men come to her rescue. Sure, she is posing herself as emotionally strong and confident in her teammates while being captive... but for me, that isn't good enough. I need to see Jubilee kick some serious Future ass in the next issue, or else I will consider this arc a big failure. Woods so far has written Jubilee as more of a sideliner than the full-fledged X-Man that she is. Marvel comics even called her an A-Lister when the series was being promoted. Looking back at the 17 issues, she has: 'rescued' an orphaned baby, caused the X-Men a lot of grief by bringing the baby back to the mansion... instead of trying to outsmart or fight Sublime (which is what Marjorie Liu or Kathryn Immonen's Jubilee would have done,) gave the X-Men intel on the building Arkea was hiding out in, helped Karima research the Sisterhood of Evil Mutants, and got taken out by a glancing bullet to the forehead to be kidnapped by the Future. That is something a more depowered Jubilee would have done before she became a high tier Marvel vampire.
I know that During the Battle of the Atom Jubilee led the Future X-Men... but she didn't do anything offensive. She also commanded a group of the younger mutants in a battle against Sentinels, and gave some good offensive support. I was excited with that last part, but it seems to have fallen by the wayside. Hopefully we get a good payoff next issue... and that the next arc of X-Men in space handles her more appropriately as a veteran member of the team.

A 4 issue short in space? Deathbird and Vulcan, it's funny Xavier and Magneto got repowerd in space, how much you want to bet Jubilee doesn't.
Ask and you shall receive - sorry it took to long, but my TMNT 30th Anniversary Visual History book got delivered and I couldn't put it down!
SPOILERS X-Men 16 (Hope this makes sense!)
We open with Hellion heading down to the medlab to wake up Sprite and Primal to escort them to a briefing. All the other kids are happy to see them alive and less dead.
Cute stuff with Shogo and Hank
Storm calls Sabra for info on the Future, turns out his a bad mofo. Sabra suggest that Storm call in the Avengers to help, and Storm lays the smack down on her for imagining the X-Men aren't elite enough to handle the Future.
Rachel pumps Kymera for more information on the future and the Future.
Upstairs Psylocke is giving the X-kiddies a briefing/pep-talk. Aka 'You are the schools last line of defense' and I quote 'Jubilee was some random mutant kid that fell on hard times and if you asked her, she'll tell you the X-Men saved her. Sound familiar?'
Meanwhile in the Adirondacks - being held prisoner the Future has anime blue-eyed Jubes locked in cell/cage thingie. His like the X-Men better give me my son or I'll kill you - Jubes gives him the 'old my friends will never hand over my son. They'll take you down.'
The future...oh sorry I meant....the Future tells his henchman to deploy The Bloodline...we are no told what it does exactly...just that it's activated by the Future's blood.
The X-Men show up. They send M out to scout...she attacked by the forest and it reels her in.
On the Blackbird with Storm and Rachel - Kymera's like oh I know this 'it's the Bloodline, a living ecosystem.' and 'We need to bring Shogo here.' (Sho is still back with Hank in the lab)
Badly drawn Betts and X-kids (Hellion, Rockslide and Anole) take on the living forest, they fair way better then M.
The Future sends his demands to Storm by text msg (most likely in l33t speak) - who tells him to go take a long walk of a short pier.
Kymera hops out to join Hank and Shogo on the inbound Dove, Storm reminds her Shogo is a non-combatant and should stay out of the fight.
As her mother fly off Kymera's says 'Goodluck Mom. But you won't be the one saving the day today.
The End.
(Someone else can prob do a better sum. )

Just thought of a very annoying plot hole in this issue....
Why doesn't Jubes just mist? We know she can still do it and as it's a pretty unusual skill for a young vampire to have, so there's no way the Future could have known to compensated for it.
Or did I misunderstand how her mist form works - is it just invisibility? Emma in Wolverine and Jubilee #4 describes it as the ability to become incorporeal, which to me means Jubes should be able to walk through walls in her mist state or duck bullets...
Could silver coated bars maybe prevent her from misting though them?
I know that Marvel Vampires were created by Chthon one of the nastier demons/elder gods. Did he create them for a reason, and do vampires get any of Chthon's magic? besides what keeps them alive?
I can't believe I haven't posted here for a while. Jubilee is one of my favorite x-men.
