It's definitely in the past, a "lost episode" of sorts. It was just kind of lame to go back to that after Gleason seemingly completed that part of this story. Weird pacing, y'know? But at the same time they couldn't really move it along without him so it's a fine fill-in all things considered.

It was no Pat Gleason, but I enjoyed this issue. Fawkes has a good enough grasp on Damian and I enjoyed the cartoonish art. Hope Gleason gets better because while this was an enjoyable issue, he was missed.
