What do I need to read before Injustice: Gods Among Us comic book series?

My understanding is that series is an adaptation of the game by the same name. It does not take place in the main DC storytelling world. There was a first 12-issues series and a second one. Assuming you are referring to the first one, there is nothing previous to that that you would need to read.

I have no idea if having experienced the game would make it any better.
