Myself, I don't think it was worth it. This feels like a "killing Gwen Stacy panicking" by Marvel. Things aren't going right, so let's do something sensational, and Lo and behold, some people don't like it. It may pan out fine in the long run, I don't know. But I never expected it to be discarding the 616 the way it was done. I thought there would be a logical sequence of events that would explain how Secret Wars was possible, but instead we have a Hickman continuity rolled out that superceded the 616. And nothing so far explained has altered that perception. Hickman put down a roll of carpet at MARVEL NOW! and rolled out Secret Wars over the top of what was the 616. That's what I see.
