    Default Overused Marvel Villains

Am I the only person who believes Marvel vastly overuses villains like Doctor Doom, Thanos and Loki? I'm kind of getting tired of seeing them behind nearly everything happening in the Marvel Universe while lesser tier villains like maybe Diablo or Attuma become vastly underused. It seems it even got so bad that a lot of Thanos and Doom appearances were ret-conned into clone or bot appearances. Anyone agree?

Personally, I'd like the see the Scourge come back picking off the less successful villains again.

    I agree.
I'd add Norman Osborn, Doc Octopus, Electro, Sandman, Vulture, Rhino, Mysterio, Kingpin, Bullseye, Sabretooth, Mystique, Apocalypse, Red Skull, Kang, Ultron, the Wizard, the Wrecking Crew to the list.
Disagree about Scourge, though. I'd rather see him kill the guys I listed above. Would make some room for Mr Negative, Zodiac, Immortal Man and some other dudes.

    I'd be all for that!

Something like Mistress Death deciding that her "chosen" big baddies need to be punished for serving their own interests and falling short of Her expectations. The twist here is that not all of the villains know that they were "anointed" by the hand of Death. The bigger twist is that there are even some heroes who are unaware that they are also Death's "chosen." Nevertheless Death empowers her agent, Deathurge, to go after all of them. Deathurge in turn recruits the Scourge as his chief actor in the field. He creates a small army of Scourges, gifting them with weapons derived from the Necro-sword, and sets them loose on the Marvel Universe. When a bunch of major villains start dropping like roaches in a Raid commercial, no one says anything. But when Reed Richards, Wolverine, Tony Stark, the Hulk, Gamora, Hawkeye, Deadpool, Hank Pym, Captain Marvel and others are all expunged with the same type of Necro weapon, everyone takes notice. The Scourge has begun!

Doom has been so massivlly overused in the last 15 years it has weakened his overall character I think. It used to be when you saw Doom was coming it would get you excited, now it is just a big "oh look it's Doom ........ again".

Galactus is the another one that has been just watered down by making so many lame apperances in the last 15 years.

I know a lot of writers don't want to create new villains, but there are just so many older villains that could be dusted off and either revamped or just tweaked a little and given a whole new life instead of just using the same classics over and over and over again. Marvel needs someone like Geoff Johns or Morrison that can take a lame villain and give them new life.

Thank you - I'm not alone on this, but I'm not asking the Marvel writers to create new villains when old-shot villains are lost to obscurity, like Glazier, a woman whose touch transformed men into glass in a Hulk comic back in the 70s. It would interesting if she returned trying to collect heroes in her collection, maybe in a team-up with the Grey Gargoyle.
And then there's the Surgeon General (I think that's her name) who appeared in Daredevil. All these so-called lame villains could be made interesting if they were just re-invented.

    Galactus.

Much as I love big G, he should really show up like only once or twice a year... if at all.
Make his appearance the most important day in a characters life, not just a Tuesday.

Doom, the Red Skull, and Sabretooth. They appear in like every other story.

For a while the Hood was pretty constant, but I liked him outside of the Avengers.
