Toss up between Two Face, Scarecrow and the Riddler, but I went with Enigma.

Since I could vote multiple times I went with...

    1. Riddler
    2. Two Face
    3. Poison Ivy
    4. Scarecrow

I should have put the Penguin down to. I think the list should also have Killer Croc, Clayface, Madhatter and Manbat.

    (Ps proper spelling: ventriloquist)

Mad Hatter is already on the poll, so then the question is which three would you have removed from the poll in order to replace them with Clayface, Killer Croc, and Man-Bat?

My error, I wrongly assumed you could post more than 15.

Surprised to see that the people loves RIDDLER like that. I always hated him.

    My favourite is Hugo Strange.

There has always been something unique about him that sets him apart from Batman's regular enemies. In his first appearance he is pushed as Batman's "Moriarty", followed by the legendary Monster Men story. He had one more outing then disappeared for decades until the seminal Engelhart run, where he learned Batman's true identity, tried to steal all his wealth and ultimately "died" protecting his secret. His returns in the 80's were okay, but then Prey happened and he was re-imagined (post-Crisis) as a mad psychiatrist. Even Night of the Monster Men was ridiculously fun. His run on Gotham was fantastic!

As my pic would suggest, I really like Killer Moth in only a half-ironic way. Mostly because of Misfits in Shadow of the Bat, where he is awesome, but I do really like his look and have come to love him.

Other than that, I love the usual names Bane, Riddler, Penguin, Scarecrow, Mad Hatter, etc.

Joker is great, but has been used very poorly and way too often of late. I'd like him to go away for 3-5 years and come back with something more original and clearly defined. Same for Ra's Al Ghul.

Quite interesting that Hush didn't make the poll. I'm not really a fan, but he's certainly been a big name in the last few decades.
"Has Sariel summoned you here, Azrael? Have you come to witness the miracle of your brethren arriving on Earth?"

"I WILL MIX THE ASHES OF YOUR BONES WITH SALT AND USE THEM TO ENSURE THE EARTH THE TEMPLARS TILLED NEVER BEARS FRUIT AGAIN!"

"*sigh* I hoped it was for the miracle."

Dan Watters' Azrael was incredible, a constant delight and perhaps too good for this world (but not the Forth). For the love of St. Dumas, DC, give us more!!!

The thread was first created back in January 2016 by Batman#22.
Don't know how prevalent Hush may have been at that time, or if enough people were tired of Hush by that time, or if the other fourteen villains who did make the poll were more appealing options to Batman#22.

Different ones for different reasons of course but Bane,Two-Face, and Scarecrow I've usually enjoyed reading about.

Prior to 1988 and THE KILLING JOKE, it doesn't seem to me that there was any clear attitude on the part of the Joker. He starts out as an enigmatic killer, with no real back story, then transforms into a punster performance artist just out to put egg on Batman's face, then eventually goes back to being a killer but with an unpredictable personality. About the clearest portrait of him emerges in "The Joker's Ha-Hacienda"--in THE JOKER title, 1975 - 76--the letterpage that he hosted, where he emerges as a kind of Alfred E. Newman of the criminal set.

Yet from 1940 onward there was almost no year where the Joker didn't make one appearance. His greatest down time was in 1970, 1971, 1972 when (other than reprints) he never showed up--but that was when the comics were trying to avoid anything "camp" and retired most of the rogues in favour of new villains.

This fascinates me, as it seems like the Joker remained popular through all those years, despite his lack of any philosophy or psychological depth. As far as I can figure it, the Joker was popular because he was visually interesting to look at and he pulled pranks.
