Jessica was one of the stars if that Fatal Five movie. Would like to see the "Phantom Lantern" story from her and Simon's solo series get adapted if she gets a shot at a movie specifically focused on her beyond being a team member.
Wasn't Guy always more of a supporting character?
Doctor Strange: "You are the right person to replace Logan."
X-23: "I know there are people who disapprove... Guys on the Internet mainly."
(All-New Wolverine #4)
I still remember when she finally embraced her GL powers and soloed the Fatal Five and basically made the League look superflous. Then again, that's practically every DC Animated movie at this point .
He's had his solo periods, although he never headlined the main GL book.Wasn't Guy always more of a supporting character?
Haven't seen Fatal Five but always heard good things about Jessica in it. Is that so far the only Justice League animated movie where a Green Lantern is the central character. I guess New Frontier comes to mind as well to an extent.
Justice League vs The Fatal Five is definitely a Jessica Cruz movie. The same way the New Frontier was a Hal Jordan movie. Both feature Martians (J'onn and M'gann) as supporting characters. Both feature the Justice League as guest stars.
The Fatal Five were scaled way up in this film. The bulk of the film sees the League only fighting 4 of the 5. Validus, Tharok, Mano and Persuader. Supes could body them no trouble. But this is the Timmverse. So Supes is jobbed, HARD.
The League, the Legion and the GLs don't make out any better.
The Legion failed to stop the "Frightful Four" from stealing a time sphere from Legion HQ and them going back into the past.
Jessica, Salaak, and Kilowog get beaten within an inch of their lives fighting the Five. On OA of all places. Jessica gets her ring destroyed.
The League all get incapacitated by one blast from Emerald Empress' eye. Granted, it had received a charge from the GL power battery. They had to exposit eye also generating Kryptonite radiation to keep Supes neutralized.
Then Jessica Cruz comes in. After taking a beating the entire film and she whoops the Five single-handily.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My guess is they add the Justice League to the film for marketing purposes so people would buy the film. Jessica Cruz is new GL in pop culture, nobody knows or cares about Starboy and his schizophrenia and M'gann isn't the one from the popular Young Justice animated series. Slap the Trinity on the box art and add League to the title and people are sure to tune in.
With the spotlight on Jessica mainly, the Fatal Five's master plan of using the GL battery in the past to to super charge Empress's eye of Ekron and send into Earth's sun to cause a supernova (killing the Legion in the future) and the homage to other famous GLs (Hal and Guy never been explored and Kyle only appearing in 1 episode of the Timmverse). You would think this would be the perfect opportunity to make this a Green Lantern movie.
Looking at the Hall of Lanterns in Legion HQ (from Starboy's memories) the main Lanterns to make it into history were Hal, Guy, John, Kyle and Jessica. This film came out in 2019. Simon Baz predates Jessica by 2 years and he was once again ignored. Damn. Can't catch a break, Simon Says.

The Justice League seem to keep taking L's all across the board:
Thrones of Atlantis - Needed Aquaman to stop Ocean Master because he beat everybody else. The best they did was expose him killing Atlanna to the Atlantean soldiers.
Justice League vs. Teen Titans - Got brainwashed and needed the Titans to stop Trigon.
Justice League Dark - Got brainwashed and needed a team of magical heroes to stop Destiny.
Death of Superman - Were unable to stop Doomsday and needed Superman to sacrifice himself to stop it.
Reign of The Supermen - Got transported into space and needed the Supermen to stop Cyborg-Superman's plot.
Apokolips War - Were utterly decimated by Darkseid and needed a ragtag group of heroes, villains, and magic users to save the day.
Justice League vs the Fatal Five - Couldn't stand up to Emerald Empress and needed fresh recruit Jessica Cruz to stop the Fatal Five.
Peacemaker - Were late to stop the bug invasion and needed a team of normals headlined by a convicted criminal and killer to save the world.
Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League - Get brainwashed by Brainiac and need a team of convicted criminals and killers to stop them.
The Justice League breaking the 4th wall. Now I've seen everything.
I hope they can really nail the climax this time around, if only because I feel like that has been the hardest element for the Tomorrow-verse movies to get right aside from the LH duology.
(Although one of the writers has a pretty spotty track record...)
if you actually list out the years for each film it makes it worse. It's not like this is in the span of two or three years.
And if you throw in the Snyder cut (which does not end on a good note) or the last few comic events. Didn't Dark Metal and whatever that Justice League story with Perpetua end very poorly for the League?
