    Talking Happy Mother's Day!

X-Men Legends Dazzler and Shatterstar Hasbro Marvel

    From X-Factor #259

Dazzler goes into labor and gives birth to a baby, Gaveedra-Seven,
who Shatterstar (body of Benjamin Russell merged with the soul of Gaveedra-Seven)
explains to Rictor, he will deliver to the future of Mojoworld to be raised by the people that raised him,
but not before he erases Dazzler and Longshot's memories of their having a child.

I would love this so much. I try to deny how much a Dazzler fan I am. I still wanna see her talk to her son so bad.

Dazzler did the deed with her own Grandson. Thereby becoming her own grandmother-in-law.

Every time I get excited about the potential for a chaotic good sexual omnivore with points in fashion, gymnastics and tv repair, it vanishes into thin air when I remember all the stupid backstory he has to carry around.

Dazzler needs to be told so that she may embrace her son.

This story needs to be retconned or at the very least never mentioned again

I hope Rictor mentions it in Excalibur.

Shatterstar: Alison...I'm your time displaced warrior son from the Mojoverse. I'm also, the template used to make my father Longshot. Oh and I'm Gay...

Dazzler: Oddly enough, that makes sense to me. You want some chocolate chip cookies?

Just reading this thread makes me hate all of the characters involved. What's so hard about an origin story? Claremont made it super easy for all involved by establishing Longshot and Dazzler as a couple. How do you screw that up?

What truly makes me VERY angry is the fact that Longshot truly deserved the ultra-popularity that Gambit had in the nineties. Gambit is just the most overrated X-Men character, and Longshot is probably the most overlooked one. Too bad.

Gambit has the advantage because he was able to evolve from being just a 90s cool character and is very clearly a mutant. Longshot's a clone or something. And his style hasn't aged well. I look at him and wonder when he's going to start singing The Neverending Story theme. Don't get me wrong. I don't dislike him.

Well, originally, Longshot was supposed to be a "mutant" for his own race of clones. That said, it was cool to get an interdimensional member in the X-Men. His eighties style reminds me of Billy Idol --- he didn't need to evolve, just to be written in a predominant way on the issues.

Gambit is a boring and overrated character.

Thanks for writing this on the stone

I've always been OK with no mutants in the X-teams, I think it's an important part of their inclusive spirit. Nevertheless, as BatKeaton said, Longshot was a mutant among his own kind, in the sense that Arize grafted the gift of psychometry and a drive for unsubmissiveness into him. BTW, supposedly Longshot was not the only mutant slave, since Arize called him 'one of the special ones'.

As for his lack of development... Longshot is an odd not conventional character, and most of writers just don't know what to do with him. That's the problem, and not that he's a poor character. I recently listened to a podcast about First Comics and I came to think that Longshot probably would have fit better with a 80's independent editorial like that, or Eclipse, or Comico. Marvel was just too mainstream for him. Maybe if they had put him in Epic...

I have to admit that I do like PAD's convoluted plot, precisely because I think it fits very well with the whole looping and doomed Longshot story. Also, I'm not a fan of Longshot and Dazzler as lovebirds, I find it absurd. As just lovers, that's OK.
