Who else is hyped for Domino and Exiles? Both come out this week.
Floppies as of November: Adventures of the Super Sons, Batman, Catwoman, The Green Lantern, Black Panther, Dead Man Logan, Domino, Exiles, Iceman, Immortal Hulk
Digital as of November: Daughters of the Dragon, Iron Fist: Phantom Limb, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage.
I’ll definitely have to check them out. They sound like one of the few books that still sound exciting from marvel
Defenders #5 Apr 1973
World Without End?
While walking the streets of Greenwich Village, Valkyrie tries to make sense of where her life is supposed to go.
After she stops a bunch of hooded thieves from mugging her, she returns to Dr. Strange's sanctum for advice on how to deal with her aggressiveness towards men.
Suggesting that perhaps her first step in dealing peacefully with men would be to seek it with her comrades,
Strange hands her two crystals that will allow her to find the location of both the Sub-Mariner and the Hulk.
Finding Namor at the home of Betty Prentiss visiting his cousin Namorita, Val is scolded by Namor for intruding.
While explaining that the Defenders are not an ordinary team, the Sub-Mariner is suddenly transported away.
Realizing the crystal is still tracking Namor, Val and Namorita decide to go and pick up the Hulk before going after him.
However, when the two get to the Hulk, the Hulk in his misplaced rage attacks.
During his initial strike he too is transported away, Val and Namorita then decide to find out where they were transported.
They are brought to the location where the Defenders previously fought the computer the Omegatron.
There the computer captures the two and informs them in spite of the fact that it's trapped in a bubble of slower time it still will end up finishing it's countdown and destroy the Earth.
The computer informs them that all it need do after the countdown is speak it's masters name.
When Val and Namorita try to stop it, the computer sends duplicates of the Hulk and Sub-Mariner to try and stop them.
Aragorn is able to identify the originals, which dispels the duplicates, leaving just the mind-controlled Defenders.
The Valkyrie manages to fight them off. When the Omegatron reaches zero it breaks free of it's computer housing in a gigantic humanoid form.
However before it can speak it's masters name,
Val chops it's head off, destroying it and saving the world.
Script by Steve Englehart, pencils by Sal Buscema, inks by Frank McLaughlin
Cat #3 Apr 1973
"From Far Beneath the Mirror of the Moon!"
While exploring unusual sonic pulses under Lake Michigan, the Cat encounters mysterious aliens she mistakes as a Naval crew site in a submerged dome.
Commander Kraken tries to overtake the complex,
but the Cat and the alien crew fight off the pirates.
The alien commander, Belag, ultimately decides to abandon earth and blasts his submerged craft back into outer space.
A startled Greer Is shocked at this turn of events.
NOTE: Letter to the editor from comic artist/writer FRANK MILLER praising the first issue of the series.
Script by Linda Fite, breakdowns by Paty Greer, finished art by Bill Everett.
Two great old tales with Valkyrie and the Cat!
Such a long time since I last read those stories. Thanks for posting them!
Fantastic Four #133 Apr 1973
"Thundra at Dawn!" Guest-starring Thundra.
It's New Year's Eve in Times Square! Everyone is in a celebratory mood, except the Fantastic Four.
Affairs of the heart are plaguing both Reed and Johnny, while Ben and his girlfriend Alicia are doing great!
However, the Thing's fortunes change in a New York minute, when Thundra dramatically reappears at the stroke of midnight, challenges Ben to a fight, and kidnaps Alicia!
What a set of revoltin' developments!
The colossal confrontation between the two mighty warriors begins at Shea Stadium and ends at the Unisphere (from the 1964 World's Fair)!
Can the blue-eyed idol of millions find the inner strength to bring down (the) Thundra?
Notes: This is one of the very few issues that RAMONA FRADON drew for Marvel.
Gerry Conway begins his 20-issue scripting run on the Fantastic Four series.
Plot by Roy Thomas. Script by Gerry Conway. Pencils by Ramona Fradon. Inks by Joe Sinnott.
As strong as Val seems, I think Thundra seems way stronger from the above scenes!
Shanna The She-Devil #3 Apr 1973
"The Moon of the Fear-Bulls."
The Hour of the Bull is near for Shanna, Queen of the Jungle;
Intro and death of Erakes and Phobotauros.
Script by Carole Seuling, pencils by Ross Andru, inks by Vince Colletta.
I always wondered how Shanna would fare against Natasha Black Widow!
