YAS @ this thread. Most of my faves are women:

    Storm
    Black Widow
    Psylocke
    Monica Rambeau
    Emma Frost
    Magik
    etc etc...

    And now Kamala Khan <3

I mentioned Dawn Greenwood's awesomeness earlier. But how about some other civilian women who are awesome.

Anna Maria Marconi, from Superior/Amazing Spider-Man, is a fantastic character. It's rare for "little people" to show up at all in comics, especially as something other than comedic relief. But she's not only a really compelling character, she's also a bona fide genius. And rather than being a damsel, she's actually being a huge help to Peter.

In Daredevil, Kirsten McDuffie's avoided the damsel role, and is being a big help to Daredevil.

Loki has the pretty awesome Verity.

Nova's got his mom. Who's way tougher than he is. I'd say she should get a helmet, but she'd probably just clean up the whole world single handed and leave nothing for all the other heroes to do. And then she'd make them clean their rooms.

As a Psylocke fan I had to vote for Storm. Storm even when she's written terribly is still one of the top Alisters of Marvel's brand. People will know Storm near instantly, whether from the books, cartoons, or movies. She's a unique look and style about her. She's the epitome of the strong, confident, leader woman.

    Love it, good pick. ^.^

And of course, I'd like to add my favorite Woman of Marvel: Penance of Generation X:

Last time I spoke with someone, she didn't know Spider-Woman exists. : ( Broke my goddamn heart.

    So, I've voted Mrs. Fantastic.

I'm more than happy to show some appreciation for my favorite Marvel heroines.

My two favorite are Carol Danvers and Jennifer Walters. I've read the first two volumes of the Marvel Now! Captain Marvel and I love Carol Danvers role in it. It feels really exciting and adventurous. I love Carol's personality and that she kind of has a bite to it as well, she's not your every day, blonde bimbo. As for She-Hulk, Savage is my favorite. I got the collected issues a while ago and really liked them. Though a bit campy, I always liked the idea of seeing the struggle and situations a female Hulk would go through. I enjoy the Sensational She-Hulk comics as well and how it breaks the fourth wall. And excuse me for being a guy, but they're both babes as well.

Cool thread, Kieran! I'm still undecided on the leading lady question (I'm stuck between Storm, Jean, Elektra, and Carol).

Feel free to link Polaris' appreciation thread in the first page.

Not really, to be honest. The stories picked are fairly obscure, and not that good. I'd spend your money elsewhere.

Some lovely Elektra cover art to share

You know who I'd love to draw an issue of Elektra? Emma Rios. Partly it's because I want to see Emma Rios draw everything. But I think she'd do a fantastic job with Elektra. Michael Del Mundo's art is very stylized, and very kinetic, owing a lot to Bill Sienkewicz. Emma Rios' art is similar, except even more so. No one does movement like Rios. No one. Del Mundo can make his characters move, but Rios can convey movement in a panel where characters aren't even moving. She excels at doing dark and intimate stuff, we know she can do weird and mystical beautifully, and she conveys a lot of emotion with faces and body language.

All of these are things the current Elektra run has plenty of. So she'd be a good fit to do an issue, or even a full arc. She wouldn't be a big departure from Del Mundo, but there's enough differences to make it interesting.

For much the same reasons, I also want to see her do an issue of All-New Ghost Rider. And maybe Black Widow. And, you know, pretty much any book, because I will buy any comic she draws.

Only vaguely related: I also still want Jamie McKelvie to do fill-in issues on Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Nightcrawler. He designed the Captain Marvel uniform, and did an amazing job on it, so I'd like to see him tackle a whole issue. He keeps doing covers for Ms. Marvel, and they're gorgeous and fun, so I'd like to see him do the interiors for an issue, too. And the same with Nightcrawler.

I voted Storm because she has the most global presence. In Asia, she's all over the posters in X-men movies. Storm and Black Widow are the only women in Marvel's KAWAII line, with merchandise successfully breaching the Asian market. My classmate's backpack carries all the Marvel Kawaii keychains, along with fan-made buttons. They're cute.
