Gamora #1 by spring of 2015
-The Gamora cover is fantastic and I said months ago that if Rocket and Quill get solos, then she should as well. Also, please do a crossover with the Angela book at some point, those two are great together.
-It'll be interesting to see another writer besides Dan Slott write Silk. She has potential, but they really need to flesh out her character more, and here's their shot. Also, damn that costume is REALLY good.
-Spider-Gwen is awesome. Oh the fact that they're actually calling the book "Spider-Gwen" is doubly awesome.
So, some cool stuff and some disappointing stuff.
First up, I notice that there's basically no coverage of the Women of Marvel panel. The announcements have been mentioned, but the panel itself has been basically ignored. In the past, it's gotten tons of press, but here, the comics press seems to have just universally shrugged and not given a damn. Did nothing happen at the panel worth talking about? Were there no interesting questions? Did none of the women present say anything about what it means to be a woman in comics? Was there not even a good joke worth mentioning? So that's an irritation.
Beyond that, though. We're getting four stories written by women. Two are minis, one is a single arc of what's on its way to becoming a tertiary title, and one is an ongoing. All four are female-led titles. We are, at least, getting a couple more books drawn by women. Squirrel Girl will have the adorable art of Erica Henderson, and Silk will have the art of Stacey Lee, who I learned earlier today is insanely talented. The Women of Marvel month of variant covers should also be really cool.
It's cool that Gamora's getting a solo title. But it's going to be the fifth GotG series. The market is already being flooded with GotG comics, and naturally, that's when the female member gets her own series. When the movie is already fading from people's minds, and after a bunch of other spin-offs have been done first.
Maybe this is just senseless bitching. I don't know. I just feel disappointed.
I am definitely disappointed Stacey Lee will be drawing Silk. I'm not interested in the character, and the writer is someone I've never heard of, so I can't say his name grabs me much. I would've loved it if Lee had been put on a book I actually want to buy. Because oh man you've got to check out her art, it's so frigging awesome.
So what? I don't care when the book comes out, merely that it DOES come out. I didn't care that it took a long time from the release of The Avengers to get a Black Widow book, just that we got a BW book. And "the movie is fading from people's minds" is debatable.
1. Black Widow
2. She Hulk
3. Elektra
4. Captain Marvel
5. Ms. Marvel
6. Storm
7. XX-Men
8. Spider-Woman
9. Thor
10. Squirrel Girl
11. Gamora
12. Silk
13. Spider-Gwen
14. Angela
Am I missing anybody?? If not, kudos to Marvel. Its nice to see so many female titles, and a variety of characters, not just spies and assassins.
@Tiamatty: thanks for posting the Stacey Lee link. There's some amazing stuff there and it's all new to me too. This is far and away my favourite: I love how she's made Storm's hair look like it's part of her lightening.

"Self has no time for this."
Lots of wonderful new female solo series have been announced. So I can update the OP; let's get the info down. Are these all the new series announced, and who are the writers?
Gamora
Silk
Spidergirl (Gwen?)
Squirrel Girl
Have I missed any?
