Hank Pym becaqme a scientific Avenger in Avengers West Coast #21. He basically remained with the team right up until #74, when he officially left the WCA, however he came back for Operation Galactic Storm (circa AWC #80-82), still as Dr. Pym the Scientific Adventurer, going as far as giving Hawkeye his growing serum allowing the archer to become Goliath II for the duration, and stayed to lead the West Coast Reserve team in #83. He than appeared during the Ultron Storyline (circa #89-91) as a mere scientist, hardly taking part in any action and when he showed up agian, in #101-102 was already as Giant Man. So, I Guess I'd count from #21 to #91, though he was not around much after #74. Little over five years.

Byrne's storylines may have been questionable but his WCA art was great!

Here's a commissioned pieced with some WCAers (Jen of course was not)

I think Byrne wanted Jen to join the team but was vetoed by Marvel editorial.

And it totally would have made sense, since she started out as a Los Angelino. That and she always had a great bond with Hawkeye.

It's interesting how Scarlet Witch has her new look and haircut in this piece of art, even though she'd only sport it in WCA#102.

I've been a fan ever since I first saw him in Alpha Flight. He is one of my favorites, and his run at WCA remains one of my all time favorites in one of my all time favorite books. I really wish we could see more of him.

Marvel is on its way to complete the collection in TPBs (mostly) and HC of WCA. There is quite a lot of the WCA run already collected. Some is out of print already, but you might find it second hand.

This last one has only one issue of WCA, but it's a critical one that led to the team disbanding.

    And, come Fabuary:

With this, there will be only a small hole from the end of "Along Comes a Spider-Woman" right up to "Ultron Unbound", though the participation of the WCA in "Operation Galactic Storm" is collected in the two TPBs that collect the whole saga (as are a couple of Annuals scatered throughout Atlantis Attacks and the Evolutionary War, though they DESERVED to be in the collections of the book itself. Many others are stil missing). Marvel stopped collecting Englehart's run in TPBs and HCs before its end, but it concluded it in the second Omnibus. This was really a GREAT book.

I'm reminded of the cover of Marvel Age at the time with Byrne on both WCA/AWC and She-Hulk...

Appearently Force Works, the West Coast Avengers' sucessors will have their whole series collected before the original run.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/130...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

This collects issues #1-15 and the Century Special. The remaining issues (16-22) are already collected in The Crossing Omnibus.

The WCAs should have done a story that took on gang violence in urban L.A.

There was a Hawkeye story in Avengers Spotlight in which Hawkeye is shot by gang members, and then adopts an armored suit to fight them.
