Considering the Luthor in the movie is the son of the Lex in LexCorp, we might yet still get him.
Possibly, but wasn't it established in promotion stuff leading up to the movie that Lex senior died?
I for one would have lost my mind if we had a portrait in Lex's study of Luthor senior and it was a bald Bryan Cranston ala Post-Crisis Luthor in a pose similar to the Lex painting on the cover of LEX LUTHOR THE UNAUTHORIZED BIOGRAPHY. Hell, it would have been awesome if there was a scene where that book was on Bruce Wayne or Perry White's desk at some point.
Lex was terrible in this film, the worst Lex I've seen in live action. They could easily just bring Bryan Cranston, or Kevin Spacey, in a sequel as a real Lex Luthor pissed that his son screwed things up for his company and also out to get Superman.
Something along those lines. Alex Luthor, from BvS, was just a crazy kid given too much power while his pops was away.
